John_The_Bodge Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 Hullo Chaps When I started flying BoS et al, I assigned some dials on my X56 throttle to the various analogue control axes. Water & oil radiators, rpm and mixture. To start with all worked fine, but since a few weeks, I have been unable to control these axes. I know the controls on the throttle are fine, as I use them daily in other sims - just in IL-2 they are not working any more. I just checked the assignments in the options and all is okay, so I'm baffled as to why they aren't working while flying. I'm flying mostly the Yak-1 (both), but it was the same in the IL-2, La-5 and LaGG-3. Any suggestions?
Willy__ Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 Have you tried re-assign them ? Sometimes when you plug the joystick on different usb port the game thinks its another device and the old assignments wont work....
John_The_Bodge Posted December 25, 2017 Author Posted December 25, 2017 Yes, I did that just now, before my last flight.
-TBC-AeroAce Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 Are you flying on a normal server or in normal mode for the sp? If you are in normal mode the Ai will control your rads and rpm for you.
Willy__ Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 If you are playing on normal difficulty the prop pitch, rads and mixture are automated, but you can disable the auto mode and mannually control it yourself, iirc the default buttons to toggle between auto/manual is Shift+R, Shift+N and Shif+M for rads, prop pithc and mixture, respectively.
John_The_Bodge Posted December 25, 2017 Author Posted December 25, 2017 (edited) Yes, I did wonder if it was somehow running in auto mode. I was wondering how it had changed since my previous flights, but you are right - all my initial flights were on servers, though the first one where I realised it wasn't working was also online (the checksix server) - but maybe it got switched somehow while I wasn't used to the new HOTAS layout. I'll give it a try, anyway - thanks for your replies. Edited December 25, 2017 by Brixmis
John_The_Bodge Posted December 28, 2017 Author Posted December 28, 2017 Yes, all sorted now that I have set it to expert - much more fun, too! Thanks.
