Jaws2002 Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 He died today, at 94 in Izhevsk. He developed the best firearm in the world, at that time and made it so stupidly simple, that any peasant, kid or untrained conscript, could keep it working without much training. It takes a genius to do that. R.I.P.
Cybermat47 Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 (edited) R.I.P. sir. You can tell a gun is good when troops would rather use it than their own country's guns (US troops in Vietnam for example). Too bad that his weapon is the one used the most by some of the most brutal terrorist groups. Edited December 24, 2013 by Cybermat47

It's the only firearm, that can be kept running, by morons who think blowing a bunch of kids will get them to heaven. Even primitive morons can keep it running. A testament of it's simplicity. Mastermariner Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Kalashnikov is dead long live Kalashnikov! Even if its use had nothing to do with the man, many nations liberated by Kalashnikovs will today send a thankful thought to his memory. RIP Master
Trooper117 Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 I've used the AK a lot in my job. It always gives me a good feeling to know that when me and the team deploy, we have a decent reliable weapon system, (usually the AK or SLR)... Regardless of politics, RIP Mr K
Outlaw Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 RIP M.K. I purchased an Izhmash AK-47 about a year ago and couldn't be happier. It shoots as accurate enough for me, ammo is cheap, and it never quits. --Outlaw.
Mastermariner Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 words "I created a weapon to defend the borders of my motherland. It's not my fault that it's being used where it shouldn't be. The politicians are more to blame for this." - M. Kalashnikov

HeavyCavalrySgt Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 I have seen about a half dozen shots of him holding an AK recently, and in all of them he is demonstrating amazingly poor trigger discipline. Do Russians not have those rules, or do AKs not fire without his express permission?
Trooper117 Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 He's old school... Rule 7.62, 'if in doubt, fire your weapon'...

The photographer thought it'd look cool. or 5. It's not a "live" AK and he didn't care.
