Edit:  Patch out.

Hello All

Some of you may have noticed lag effects online with the 4.5 patch.

We have been actively looking for a fix and it looks like we have found one.

Testing has been ongoing on the ATAG Server 1, (Axis vs Allies) and the results have been positive.  We had over 100 players using 4.5 Blitz online on Saturday with similar performance as the TF 4.312 release.

We expect to have a patch out, hopefully early next week.

Players can fly using the existing 4.5 install on the ATAG 1 server as the changes we made are server side.

Thanks to all for their patience.  :)

In addition to Buzzsaw's comment, for those looking for a slightly more detailed reason as to what the issue was, our main coder "Colander" offered the following information:

"The explanation in short:

To obtain a high resolution time from the machine, one uses a routine called QueryPerformanceCounter. Some time ago I read (don't even remember why I started looking for this) there could be some issues with it and that on c# Stopwatch should be used instead.
Well, it seems like Stopwatch sucks balls so I reverted the code back to QueryPerformanceCounter.

This was affecting the network as the code assigns and checks the packets with that time and looks like it was getting the wrong time in some."

Sums it up perfectly.

Cheers, MP/TFS

As a fellow programmer, I heartily appreciate the geek-friendly explanation!

I installed Blitz yesterday, with the various reports I did expect some trouble one way or the other.

But it was none, I ran a smooth long mission with the fantastic Beufighter witch ended in me diving too fast and I lost my ailerons .

Fantastic flight, had a blast, but one thing I noticed was I heard the sound of canopy open and close, I heard the sound of jettisoned canopy but nothing moved and I was not able to bail out.

I got a old i7 2,8 ghz with GTX 680 , nad everything worked smoothly in Atag server , very satisfying to jst install on Steam and well fly

I heard the sound of jettisoned canopy but nothing moved and I was not able to bail out.

Under normal circumstances bail out work OK from Beaufighter - even during spin due a lost wing, don't remember if excessive speed of a dive prevents this. I use the command for "Open door/hatch" before bail out.

In (BLITZ) Beaufighter the "Jettision Canopy" command eject the right window panel, but don't allow the pilot bail out - and don't see a good idea with the propeller just ahead, but this is a emergency option for Beau carry bombs, what prevents open the hatch behind the pilot.

The Beau (BLITZ) pilot need open the hatch behind the seat for be able to bail out - CLoD "peculiarities". *

The command for "Jettison canopy" don't work for all planes, e.g. wok for Bf 109, Hurri*... but not for Spit.

In Hurri the pilot can bail out after open or jettison the canopy. In Bf 109 he are not able to open canopy in flying, the wind stream keep this closing, so need use the jettison.

* CloD controls has some specifies for some planes, is not generic for all planes - good for "hard(head)core", bad for "fun'seekers". :)
