Scaling issues, and freezes :(

Hi,

So, I recently decided to make the leap from WT to IL2 (Bought IL2 BOS Deluxe + BoM). I'm a flight nut, so I figured this is the place to be... Wen't for the newer titles, due to the damage models looked so amazing. 
But I've encountered some issues so far and it hurts me badly... cause I really want this game to work!

System
GTX980, i7-4790, 8gb ram. - It runs splendid, FPS wise! (so far) 

 

But...

1. I couldn't go fullscreen (nor 1920x1080) unless I tweaked it in the config file. That's fair, have done that before in other games... but it looks oddly stretched, and a bit "unsharp" after doing that (especially when looking at dials in the cockpit). 

 

2. Also encountered crashes, when tabbing out. Read that one should go borderless (because Source-engine is old, basically), so I unchecked Fullscreen. Still freezes when tabbing...

these issues aren't game breaking, but I can see myself flipping out about this in the long run... I REALLY want this game to work... because the flight models are, so, damn, pornographically good! - Or are these issues I just have to accept as short comings of the game? Which on the other side isn't good, because this game (and its DLC-content) isn't cheap...

 

Bought the game through steam, if that does anything? - Drivers are also up to date. 

 

Figuring a reinstall could work, but I've been so busy lately so I haven't been able to do that, as of yet.
