TG-55Panthercules Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 (edited) Was reading about some of the problems people were having with a recent Windows update when I decided to check on my driver situation, and I found that nVidia released a new set (388.71) yesterday. D/L'ing it now, but just wondered if anybody had tried them with BoX yet or had any info about them. I just noted the following from the release notes for 388.71: "Negative LOD Bias Clamp: Negative LOD bias clamp for DirectX applications is not supported on Fermi-based GPUs and later." I've always used that setting for RoF and BoX, as part of getting rid of shimmering landscape - I hope this doesn't mean problems in that regard. (Although the reference to Fermi seems to indicate that maybe it hasn't been working for my last several cards, so maybe it hasn't been needed for a while now). BOO Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 (edited) Well if it hasn't had a negative effect to date and your current driver is less than 4 years old it wont have now -Nvidia dropped it years ago for D3D. Same for triple buffering. Both are open GL options. Edited December 21, 2017 by BOO
No_85_Gramps Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 I gave the 388.71 drivers a run yesterday and have not noticed any significant differences as far as BoX is concerned. I will keep the new driver as it is working okay for me.
216th_Jordan Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 AFAIK this setting never worked with kepler.
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Yes, no worries pantherculus, the negative lod bias clamp never worked for you, it was just placebo effect
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 As fenris said.Thats being said there is option still that allows you to force the negetive lod bias stillButs its not needed to remove shimmering.Just correct settings needed.
katdog5 Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 Ive had a bsod issue with this driver and rolled back one
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 (edited) No issues with previous driver and nothing in this version relating to IL2 to make it worth upgrading.Try to run oldest drivers possible as Nvidia Slow down Older GPU's as newer ones come out (so do ATI and Iphone and the like)Also Katdog5, (hope you didn't actually do a driver roll back) Edited December 28, 2017 by =TBAS=Sshadow14
