Ground explosion when a plane crashes

The ground explosions that are graphically simulated in IL2 are much to flat. I mean that when I look and WWII films of planes that are shot down and that hit the ground, the explosion is often a quick vertical column of smoke like mushroom that expands vertically. This is not the case in IL2 where the explosion remains into a kind of spherical explosion near the ground.

Source? I would liKe to have all fx stuff improved. Mainly aircraft fire

Ok ill check. But if i remember it right one of the developers said that they are satisfied with the fx. That we have best fx in aircraft sims. IMHO I dont agree, but its not priority right now.

The worst thing about the effects is that they disappear in just a few seconds.  It is mind blowing that this is the best a modern sim can do.

IMHO bombs explosion look better in ROF and there are indestructible fuel barrels, ammo dumps etc. I hope someday we will have destruction physic implemented.

No clue if they hired anyone.

 

I would like to see the smoke columns reworked a bit so missions designers don't have to put two instead of one (to avoid intermittent smoke).

Bigger explosions on crash would be cool depending on the plane/loadout.

I world like explosion effects that I can trigger in the editor like we do with smoke effects.

 

I have a work-around, but would like the effect nonetheless.

 

I would also like a smaller black smoke effect that I can use for destroyed vehicles and such.

DCS is finally after 15 years improving their explosions, perhaps BoX should improve ours a bit and leave poor DCS in the dust yet again? :lol:

It is not only bomb explosions which should be improved.
Smoke trails on burning aircraft, smoke from burning building, ships, vehicles and crashed planes.

Downed aircraft's should be left where they crashed. And if you crash into a ship or building it should be damaged too, which it is not. Kamikaze not possible in the future PTO?

And when I would really like the option to bomb the runways and create craters which will make take-off and landings a bit more difficult.

 

So yes they really need to pimp up the effects.

Don't know about buildings but I think that you can damage ships by crashing into them just like ground units.

and they can do it without the single digit frame dips that plagues dcs to this day.

Sadly no. As you can see on the pictures below, I didn't even scratch the mast nore cut a wire. I should have flown strait through it.
