hallo, i am playing IL 2 Sturmovik Ultimate edition in full realistic mode Single player compaign for USSR as a mladshi letenant and the problem is that i have a problem to understand what is my work when i am for example number 7 in my team. i know that number 1 and number 5 are leaders and number 2 and number 6 are their wing-mans but what should number 3 and number 7 do please? i am getting canstantly radio message that i am not keeping course. Thanks for any wise explanation of russian formations.

Early strategy of USSR was 3 plane wing. 1 leader and two wing men. This was abandoned when fighters where equipped with radio and some expencive lessons was learned. Flying formation means you got one leader witch suppose to consentrate on targets having to scout for enemies all over while the two others can not do anything else than looking at their leader in order to keep in formation
