haltux Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 Hello, Yesterday I started playing IL2 with my brand new Oculus Rift, amazing. However this honeymoon was short. This morning I got a major Windows update, and I updated my NVidia card driver as well. Now IL2 does not work anymore. When I start the game, I get the login menu (in VR as well), but when the wait is over, the IL2 application is crashes. I can hear the music, on screen I can see a frozen screenshot, of what I am supposed to see (quick mission...), and in the VR headset, nothing. IL2.exe does not answer, I have to kill it from the task manager. I entirely reinstalled IL2 (after removing all files), I reinstalled steam VR, no success. Could you please tell me what to do in order to solve my problem? Thanks.
dburne Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 Try removing your Nvidia Graphics drivers, using DDU ( Display Driver Uninstaller) in safe mode. Install the latest Nvidia drivers ( 388.59) clean install, installing only the Drivers and PhysX. Do not install GeForce experience or any of that other stuff, just two things - driver and PhysX. Make sure Windows Game Mode in Windows 10 is disabled. May or may not help, but give it a try and can at least rule this out if it does not.
haltux Posted December 19, 2017 Author Posted December 19, 2017 Thanks for your help. I was planning to reinstall NVidia drivers, but it is working again, not sure why. I had an additional Windows update today, that might be that.
