BMA_Hellbender Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 (edited) Maybe a bit of a strange question, but I would like all planes to only have a single default skin available when flying online (as is the case by default in Rise of Flight if you don't download any skinpacks), which the game falls back to when players pick another skin from the default available ones. Can I somehow access the game files and delete all but one of the default skins for every plane?Obviously the goal is to facilitate target recognition online, and reduce some of the confusion with markings from other theatres of war or even nationalities flying on the Eastern front.I will keep a second install for my offline play, with all skins (and custom skins) available there. =TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 (edited) you should be IDing the Planes Make n model well before you can see the camo skin.By that time its too late. But no as Mad_Mikhael saidYou cannot access them they are hard coded and encrypted within the games pak files.Trying to or gaining access to them is actually illegal and againt the games user agreement and copyright license Edited December 19, 2017 by =TBAS=Sshadow14
Jade_Monkey Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 That's called cheating. The fact that you are asking this so naively boggles my mind.

I'm not asking to replace them all in solid hot pink, only to make them all appear as a single default skin -- as is the case by default in Rise of Flight if you don't download and install the official skinpack. Or is that cheating too? Edited December 19, 2017 by Hellbender
Jade_Monkey Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 So if it's a winter map and the user chooses a winter skin, then you revert their choice to default. How does it not give you an advantage?
BMA_Hellbender Posted December 19, 2017 Author Posted December 19, 2017 It's a good point, and I'd have left in a default winter skin, though this by no means guarantees the user will pick that exact winter skin when it's a winter map. My main gripe is seeing Spanish I-16s, AVG/Chinese P-40s etc. flying around at close range on Russian maps. Even though both planes are exceedingly easy to spot (and as =TBAS=Sshadow14 points out, from a distance it really doesn't matter what colour they are), it adds that extra second of confusion at close range, and the reason I only left a minimal amount of skins available in RoF and IL-2 1946. It wouldn't be so bad if we at least had a Spanish or Chinese map available, then these skins being default would make sense. For the record: I love the Spanish I-16, I fly with it all the time offline, and now that I live in Spain I have the opportunity to watch this exact plane fly around every first Sunday of the month: http://fio.es/POLIKARPOV_I_16.html (technically it's a restored Russian I-16 repainted to look like the original) Anyway, my question is answered, it's not possible.
Matt Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 Well, imho the player should atleast have the option to disable skins that were not used in the theatre (RAF, USAAF skins, or late ware skins for instance). Also i think the default Winter skins shouldn't be avaliable on non Winter maps at all (i heard that some people are using them on Summer maps, because they camouflage better against the summer map textures, i would consider that worse than asking for an option to get rid of unhistorical skins). But yes, it's currently not possible.
