SCG_motoadve Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 Kind of wierd artifacts in front of the prop, does anyone Not have them?
Nibbio Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 To get rid of the artifacts you need to turn off ASW.
Tomsk Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 (edited) Yup personally I use Oculus Tray Tool https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/5okoju/oculus_tray_tool/ Although it obviously only works for the Rift :-) Also don't forget to turn off the hud ("H" in game) or your framerate will be terrible. BeastyBaiter Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 Turn off ASW. The easiest way to do so is to press ctrl + numpad 1 every time you start the game. 1

That is what I use as well, excellent tool for the Rift. I always have ASW disabled for BoS with a profile set for it in OTT.
SCG_motoadve Posted December 19, 2017 Author Posted December 19, 2017 Thanks , I tried it but it lost all the smoothness. Is there a way to implement the Control1 to a joystick button (so I can turn it off only when in combat)
Lensman Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 I don't have any weird artifacts as far as I know. Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing please so I can compare (Ruft).

Is there a way to implement the Control1 to a joystick button (so I can turn it off only when in combat) You may have your settings to high. Be sure and run with the HUD disabled, no SSAO and no HDR. Do you run with SS, if so what is it set to? What are your system specs? Unfortunately the only way to get rid of it is to disable ASW, unless you have a system that can maintain 90 fps at all times which is highly unlikely.

Is there a way to implement the Control1 to a joystick button (so I can turn it off only when in combat) unfortunately ctrl-1 is the only way what I do however is don't disable ASW (because of smoothness like u said) but assign the "hud off/on" switch to a joystick. I turn off hud when I'm in a close dog fight to get the smooth experience. It's a trade off...
OrLoK Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 The HUD is an FPS killer (IMHO up to 45fps) i disable ASW and keep the HUD off unless I hear a radio call but I keep the tags on. I have a key assigned to it on my stick. However dont expect 90fps *all* the time, but, for me, its a nicer and smoother experience generally, some busy servers/missions will still lag me.
marklar Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 Is there a way to implement the Control1 to a joystick button (so I can turn it off only when in combat) If your joystick has dedicated mapping software (like TARGET for Hotas Warthog) you can do it there. Alternatively you can try https://joytokey.net/en/
C6_lefuneste Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/30556-3dmigoto-mod-vr/ Install the mod, press shift+k Some report that the mod lower the fps, but it is not the case for me (I do not have a Rit)
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 The mod lowers fps unfortunately, everyone reported it. It's a very good mod - if u have some performance capacity left. To keep smoothness and have asw disabled : Press CTRL + Numpad (2). The smoothness in movement comes from syncing movement resolution with vsynced framerate. Hence full translational smoothness is there at 45fps and at 90fps.
katdog5 Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Turn off ASW. The easiest way to do so is to press ctrl + numpad 1 every time you start the game.
SCG_motoadve Posted December 20, 2017 Author Posted December 20, 2017 Ok Ctrl 1 and Ctrl 2 just before take off did worked, thank you. No prop artifacts and smooth.
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 (edited) Ctrl 1 gives asw off vsync off with 90fps top. Any fps value between 90 and 45 will introduce translational movement jiggery. Ctrl 2 gives asw off vsync on at 45fps. Butter smooth movement, no warping of other perpendicular moving aircraft like at 60fps, and system is less taxed, allowing for higher settings. High speed rolling in La5 or FW 190 take an Arnold-strong stomach - Only downside. These examples are reason why Ctrl 2 is the new way to go right now, for me at least. Everyone picks his own Edited December 20, 2017 by 4./JG52_Fenris_Wolf
C6_lefuneste Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 The mod lowers fps unfortunately, everyone reported it. It's a very good mod - if u have some performance capacity left. Not everyone. Some people on french forum (and myself) are pleased with it. I have no idea of the key to performance problem...maybe AA ? It takes 5 minutes to install and can be easilly removed, so it's worth a try...
coconut Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Ctrl 2 gives asw off vsync on at 45fps. Butter smooth movement I like that setting too, but it's not perfect. I get double images when I roll or when I flow low and I look at trees and houses fly by fast. Still, head movements are pleasantly smooth, which surprises me. I often see people say you must have 90fps or you'll puke, but constant 45fps is OK. Not as good as 90fps, obviously, but it's good. Only weird thing is the doubling if images. I suspect that the rift inserts an interpolated image every second image. But that would require buffering frames, which would introduce latency, which isn't there. Not sure what magic is going on there.

Yep, frames are predicted and interpolated every other frame when ASW is active. https://developer.oculus.com/blog/asynchronous-spacewarp/ As I may have mentioned earlier, I prefer to fly with ASW set to off ( through a profile in Oculus Tray Tool), due to the graphic anomalies it seems to introduce in flight sims. coconut Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 I was talking about the 45fps asw off setting

I am getting exactly the same effect, this is why i would like to have Ctr1 key mapped to a joystick button, Off for dogfighting and ON when flying low, so far I havent figured how to do that. VK Joystick and Warthog Throttle To turn ASW back ON do i press Ctrl 1 again or another key?
SCG_motoadve Posted December 23, 2017 Author Posted December 23, 2017 Ctrl 4 turns ASW on again So where can I find all the key commands for Oculus?
SCG_motoadve Posted December 24, 2017 Author Posted December 24, 2017 Kind of wierd artifacts in front of the prop, does anyone Not have them? I am keeping ASW but if forced to 45 fps , I dont get those artifacts and runs pretty smooth 4XAA and 2.0 SS.
