15[Span.]/JG51Costa Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 S. to all. Do you know if it is possible to assign the zoom to the head movement in the Oculus Rift? Thank you in advance. 15(Span.)/JG51Costa
TG-55Panthercules Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 Not exactly sure what you mean, but there is a VR zoom function in the controls settings screens that you can assign to a button/key or whatever so you can use it while in VR with your Rift or other VR headset. It's only about a 2x zoom ATM, but there's a thread where people are requesting the devs to increase the zoom power/level if possible (see here: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/32163-suggestion-better-zoom-vr/?hl=zoom#entry546128 )
15[Span.]/JG51Costa Posted December 18, 2017 Author Posted December 18, 2017 Thank you very much and sorry for not explaining correctly. English is not my native language. I remember that when I used the trackIr I could assign the zoom to the Z axis of forward and backward movement of my head. This was achieved by editing a line of the current actions file in BoS \ data \ input folder. bc_head_zoom, trackir_axis_z, 0 | // Pilot head: zoom So when I get close to the collimator things became big and when I separated things became smaller, without the need to press a button. I asked my self if it can be achieved in VR. Thanks 15(Span.)/JG51Costa
=EXPEND=Tripwire Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 I would think that what you are asking for would be very nauseating. I don't believe it is possible. If you want to get closer to the gunsight, just lean up to it (caveat - you will hit an invisible barrier in due to VR view restrictions). No zoom required. Want 2x zoom on top of that, press a button.

SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 All we need now is 3x or 4x zoom. To ease IDing planes and get to a level playing field in identication with those who don't use VR.
15[Span.]/JG51Costa Posted December 20, 2017 Author Posted December 20, 2017 Agree. 4x Zoom is a must in VR. Saludos. 15(Span.)/JG51Costa
OrLoK Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 (edited) How to implement more zoom (if it could be done) ? Press and hold a button to increase zoom? or step through Zoom modes? I really liked the very arcadey but informative PiP view that Wings of prey gave one (when underattack) . Ie lock onto a *dot* and a PiP appears for 3 secs showing the aircraft. I bet you guys would hate that though... Edited December 20, 2017 by OrLoK
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Put 4x zoom function right beneath 2x zoom function in key settings. We can then pick the one we want, or even use both.
C6_lefuneste Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 I made a better user configured zoom work with my mod (I set it at x2, x5 and x10, but maybe the late setting is a bit too extreme, I still had to test it a bit...) but bas news: it works with my OSVR but not with the Rift. I do not understand why it is not working with Rift, but as I do not have one, there is few that I can do.. This is a new version, using vertex shader instead of pixelshader, so détails are fine for each lebel of zoom. Really a game changer... If someone is using a Vive it mat works... I will update the post next week, when I will have test it more than few minutes :https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/30556-3dmigoto-mod-vr/
