Redglyph Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 When I'm launching IL-2 CoDB, it remains forever in the so-called "first time setup" that Steam perforrms on every game start. I've checked the integrity of the files, it's fine. Anyone else has this bug?
Redglyph Posted December 16, 2017 Author Posted December 16, 2017 If anyone has this problem, a temporary work-around is to force Steam in offline mode. Next time you go online and start the sim, it will not try again the "first time setup" normally, at least that was my case.
Redglyph Posted December 17, 2017 Author Posted December 17, 2017 (edited) No, I filled a TR. I have to start Steam offline to play this, 9 out of 10 times it wouldn't start otherwise. Perhaps their server is overwhelmed but I have no idea why it would need to be online for single player, so I'm not sure that is the problem. When I start Steam online and launch CoD Blitz, it just changes the colour settings of Windows and remain at the splash screen, nothing more. Anyone else has this? Not a big problem for me, but could be for someone wishing to go MP. Hell, those forums here are also on their knees, perhaps it's a server issue after all Edited December 17, 2017 by Redglyph
Team Fusion Buzzsaw Posted December 18, 2017 Team Fusion Posted December 18, 2017 Hello Redglyph Please look at this thread: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/32982-known-crash-causes-and-some-solutions/
Redglyph Posted December 18, 2017 Author Posted December 18, 2017 Hello Redglyph Please look at this thread: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/32982-known-crash-causes-and-some-solutions/ Not sure I see the solution there, sorry: Known Crash or failure to launch causes: - Anti-Virus deleting parts of the install... disable or turn off completely AV prior to install. - Steering Wheels: Logitech G27 MoMo, etc. Unplug the wheel, or uplug, then start the game, plug in the wheel immediately after game launch. - Steam Overlay: Turn it off. - MSI Afterburner if running prior to game launch will sometimes cause crashes... can be started after launch. - Multi Screen management programs. Any program which manages multiple screens can cause a crash... turn off. - Gaijin.net from War Thunder. If installed, causes crashes. If you got War Thunder outside of Steam this is installed. If you installed WT through Steam, it is not. - Windows kb4054518 update not installed. Negative, this will change the colour scheme of game... but usually will reset back to normal after exiting the game. ----- Feel free to post additional causes and any solutions found. Redglyph Posted December 18, 2017 Author Posted December 18, 2017 Actually, offline does not always work. Today it failed to start even in offline mode. The process is still there though, so it's not the same bug as in the other thread (unless they didn't notice the process was still there). %USERPROFILE%\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\log.txt is empty. Is there any other data I can provide to help solve this problem?
Team Fusion Buzzsaw Posted December 19, 2017 Team Fusion Posted December 19, 2017 Hello Redglyph Did you post your crash results here? https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/32914-those-having-crash-problems-wed-see-what-programs-you-are-ru/ I would recommend going to the ATAG forums and checking the threads there... there are solutions being found regularly. Also may want to post your crash results there. https://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=91
Redglyph Posted December 19, 2017 Author Posted December 19, 2017 There are no crash results, unless it's elsewhere. I put a PR on their bug tracker.
Redglyph Posted December 19, 2017 Author Posted December 19, 2017 (edited) Problem is still there, I see no specific pattern. And when it starts, often TrackIR does not connect. I think I'll just wait for a fix. Edited December 19, 2017 by Redglyph
Redglyph Posted December 30, 2017 Author Posted December 30, 2017 Another hint, trackIR usually connects when this problem happens. So the process launcher64.exe is still running, TrackIR is connected, the desktop colours have changed, and the icon is in the taskbar, and the mouse is not visible. But that's it, it doesn't show the splashscreen, no sound, doesn't go further.

I'm sure you are very frustrated at your issues, as are we. Have you tried disconnecting all your usb connections and starting the game, or not starting any outside program like TrackIR or TeamSpeak, or joystick software? I know I run TrackIR, TS, Logitech profiler, Saitek profiler, and a program to run my toggle switches fine but might be worth trying it.
Redglyph Posted January 4, 2018 Author Posted January 4, 2018 Err, no. Not sure why I'd do that I have more or less given up since there is no answer for that problem on the bug tracker or here, if I'm the only one to see this bug so be it.
69thSpiritus Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 Just to make sure, you can play the game occasionally?
Redglyph Posted January 16, 2018 Author Posted January 16, 2018 No, I'm not trying anymore, it's too frustrating. I'll probably just remove it next thing.
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 turn off your over lays, or any other monitoring 3rd party software.
