Danziger Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 With 4.5 released, when can we expect 5.0?
Blooddawn1942 Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 With 4.5 released, when can we expect 5.0? Do you seriously expect an answer?
Team Fusion Buzzsaw Posted December 15, 2017 Team Fusion Posted December 15, 2017 In reply to Boris's question: We have learned a lot with the release of 4.5, we have streamlined our procedures and methods, and we can work faster. At the same time there is a lot of new content in TF 5.0. So while we would like to give you an exact date of release, we can't now. We are aiming for approximately a year from now. 2
354thFG_Leifr Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Will you be releasing small updates through Steam though? I would dread to think that, now TF can update and bug-fix cleanly, we are forced to wait for everything rolled in to one large patch in a year's time.
Blooddawn1942 Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Whow! That actually was an answer. Awesome! Never expected this.
Blooddawn1942 Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Buzzsaw: Are You aiming for a pre-sale and early access similar to BoX? My guess is, that it could proof to be wise to gain and keep the monumentum from the 4.5 release. Disappearing for another year is a long time. I would spend the money for a 5.0 pre-sale immediately.

Can't comment on the question of price/marketing. Bottom line: There are quite a number of variables at this point... regarding our path forwards. I.e. Do we release as quickly as possible with fewer improvements on 4.5... or do we take more time and thoroughly overhaul the game. TF will make some decisions in the next month or two. Will be some updates in that time frame. 1

Danziger Posted December 15, 2017 Author Posted December 15, 2017 Yes I would also prefer the BoX style preorder and update with patches as content comes. The DCS style of disappearing for long periods with only pictures or videos of progress is pretty bad for the community. 2
Team Fusion Buzzsaw Posted December 15, 2017 Team Fusion Posted December 15, 2017 In any case, right now we are focused on fixing the issues with the release. 2
Blooddawn1942 Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Don't get me wrong or think that we are greedy. I absolutely love what you gave to us. Long wait but well worth the patience!
19//Moach Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 (edited) I would agree with the idea of more frequent smaller releases for the future, as a general suggestion. Little things every now and then can do wonderful things to keep a community together and interest levels up. Long awaited large releases, on the other hand, tend to cause much hype and anxiety over any small issues that inevitably arise. On the "waiting end" there is always a feeling that the next release could take at least as long as the time between the last and the one before it. This causes a general sense of abandonment which is really hard on a community as small and underfed as our own. So I would strongly advise towards a "smaller more often" strategy. This is my professional opinion as a fellow game developer, and also my personal view as a much anticipating player and diehard fan. For TF5, maybe a kickstarter campaign or some such crowd funding approach could also be advantageous, as many here would be certainly willing to help out in that way. Pre ordering would have a very similar effect, I reckon. But anyways, that's all for later. These are mere points to perhaps consider when the time to decide on it comes around. For the nonce, I am positively supportive of the notion that the natural "teething problems" be given priority. What happens now can make or break the whole endeavour and definitely, nobody wants a repeat of the original release. I stand by TF in their quest for a better simulator. I'd offer money now, if I had any. But as a current member of a startup business, I'm personally taking donations myself, see... For now, to do our part, we can all just give 4.5 a good steam review full of wonder and praise that it deserves. This is the time to put away the ghosts of the past and only we, players, can do that. Edited December 18, 2017 by 19//Moach
Team Fusion Buzzsaw Posted December 18, 2017 Team Fusion Posted December 18, 2017 TF is not allowed to crowd-fund... so won't be doing that. Decisions on price and marketing are 1C's. Will be closing this thread and sticking it.
