Mouse becomes inactive in game menus? One Solution

Recommended Posts

Hello,

a quite puzzling thing: the mouse works OK when starting the game, and inside mission. BUT when ESCape is pressed, the mouse is NOT recognized anymore in the menu. The game is not crashed, as you can select menu items through pressing the key with the initial and/or move with arrows and press enter.
Would you have a clue?

Many thanks

(-and the game is great!!)

Yeah when I hit ESC I see the mouse but it's active for my desktop not the game... if I hit ESC again I can get back in the flight mode. But there is no way to get back to the menus so I have to "force quit" the game.

I had this same problem. I was able to navigate the menus and close the game with keyboard commands. The game was in full screen mode. I switched to the "pseudo" mode and it didn't occur again.

Indeed, changing the video option to Pseudo works!

Many thanks

you are welcome

for anyone get into this problem , i should said this problem came back to me after i tried multiple graphic setup to get rid of the shimmering, i think it is because i tried to downsampling with the Nvidia DSR , and maybe it can be related than i have the inboard intel graphic card setup for a second monitor and the gtx 970 for the main screen,i dont know for sure

anyway, i could not  click anything in menu after pausing the game, again, even the launcher to administrator mode, just restarting the computer make everything came back to normal in the menus. hope it can help

Still no luck running Full screen and having the mouse work on the UI after starting a flight. The mouse goes to control my actual desktop "behind" the game, I have alt-tab back into the game and then I can only control the game UI using the keyboard.

Any way to fix this for real?

Have tried playing in pseudo rather than full screen?

Try not to run full screen but pseudo full screen instead : it works for me

Is there a performance hit for running "full windowed/pseudo" ?

Not that I've saw. I've ran both and they seem the same.

Cool, good to know because sometimes full screen is the best for fps.

Considering the 2 quotes above, here's my situation.

I've now found that for me to successfully live-stream IL2 it needs to be in FullScreen mode (Pseudo mode allows streaming of the static menu screens, but allows streaming of game sound only, over a black screen). So I need to be in FullScreen mode to stream.

I've changed mouse use from 2 to 1

[rts]
; 0 - not use, 1 - show cursor and not capture, 2 - not show cursor, and capture
mouseUse=2 (now changed to 1)

So this now allows my mouse pointer to go to 2nd mon while in flight - Great ?

but..

When I hit Esc while flying the mission, it takes me back to the Mission Menu screen but the menu items are not clickable  - but.... as I move my mouse around the mission menu screen it is showing me names of shortcuts on my destop (the layer below the IL2 Mission screen) eg - a .jpg - and I can double-click on these names & open the item... so, to the mouse, the IL2 Mision Menu screen is invisible.....

In this circumstance, the Esc key is as inefective as the menu items. It does nothing. To get back to the mission I have to  go to Task Manager, locate IL2 & 'Switch to'  it - ....THEN, on the mission Menu screen the Esc key will put me back in-flight in  the mission.

So..... it there a way, while using FullScreen, that I can keep the Menu items clickable after 'Esc-ing' from flight in a mission?

Thx chaps!

Additional:
Regarding: With mouseUse=2 you'll have a mouse cursor in the cockpit and it will be locked to the monitor you cockpit is on.
With mouseUse=1 you'll have a mouse cursor in the cockpit, but it will not be locked to the monitor you cockpit is on, but you can move it to other monitors, But beware: if you click in a monitor your cockpit is not on (e.g. Teamspeak), you'll bounce back to windows' desktop (a bit like having pressed alt-tab).

Hopefully, I can live with that...
