Zargos Posted December 15, 2017 Author Posted December 15, 2017 Sorry guys, The DL link for the 340 Sqn skin update was wrong. The previous skin file name was zsf-SpitfireMkVb-340sqn-duperierk.dds, as the new one is zsf-SpitfireMkVb-340sqn-duperier-4k.dds. Don't forget to remove the old file from your skin folder. Here is the proper one : updated skin Cheers.

Danziger Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 To be 100% honest I don't really take the Spitfire out very much. Your skins have made me fly it more lately. Nice work as always
CUJO_1970 Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 I enjoyed flying with your excellent artwork back in the old IL/2... Glad to see your work here!
Zargos Posted December 19, 2017 Author Posted December 19, 2017 (edited) Hello, Here is the Spitfire of the Captain René Mouchotte from the Free French Air Force (FAFL) when he was at the N°340 Sqn. René Mouchotte is a famous French pilot who died in operation the 27th of August 1943 as Squadron Leader of the N°341 Sqn. Download here. When I was searching the web for information about René Mouchotte, I've also found a profile of the same plane (BL803 coded GW-L) supposed to be the plane of another French pilot : Captain François de Labouchère. Since I've no more information on that pilot, I also made a skin for his plane : This skin is not yet available because in the meantine I've found contradictory information about Captain de Labouchère. To be continued ... Cheers. Edited December 19, 2017 by UF_Zargos 4
Zargos Posted December 19, 2017 Author Posted December 19, 2017 Hello, Eventually, I've decided to release a first skin four the plane of Cne Labouchère, in fact the same plane as the one of Cne Mouchotte but with a different personnal tag. You can read all the details here. The skin : The link See U soon. Cheers. 5

Zargos Posted January 4, 2018 Author Posted January 4, 2018 (edited) Hello, I wish you all a very, very happy new year. I'm happy to show you my first 4k skin of 2018. It's a Spitifre again, a plane of of French pilot again (it is important for me as a French citizen to pay tribute to the young French men who fought the 3rd Reich and died in the name of Liberty). The skin represents the plane of Captaine Emile (aka François) Fayolle who died, August 19th, 1942, during the Jubilee operation. Zargos Posted January 19, 2018 Author Posted January 19, 2018 Hello guys, I'm back with my first skin of 2018. This time it's a Yak-1B of a Polish Squadron located near Warzaw in 1944. For this skin I didn't use the colours of the default template because I think they are not the right ones. I saw some pictures of parts of real planes on the net, I also visit many modelers site which confirm my opinion. This is the reason why I've used different colours : Download and historic context HERE Credits : template form ICDP Cheers 2 9
Zargos Posted January 20, 2018 Author Posted January 20, 2018 Hi, I'm sorry but the compressed skin file was corrupted. The problem is now corrected but you will have to download it again. Sorry for the inconvenience. 1
FTC_SimSonius Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Very nice work. The colours of the Yak are nice. Where can you get that font of the number?
Zargos Posted January 23, 2018 Author Posted January 23, 2018 Where can you get that font of the number? Hello SimSonius, Surprisingly, the best matching font for the number is a RAF font : RAF_WW2_841ATH I don't know if you can can find it on the web easily, but you can pick it up on the ZSF site : http://unbound-frogs.org/zsf/fichiers/polices/RAF_Fonts.rar Cheers
FTC_SimSonius Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 thankyou Zargos, thats really helpfull. And keep on doing your nice work.
Zargos Posted January 29, 2018 Author Posted January 29, 2018 (edited) Dear friends, Here is a second Yak of the 1. PLM (Polish Squadron integrated in the VVS). Zargos Posted February 8, 2018 Author Posted February 8, 2018 (edited) Hello dear pilots, Some time ago I've started a new skin of a Yak1B from the 247th IAP. It took me a certain amount of time to recreate a complete weathering pattern that would match with the green/black paint scheme. In addition this skins includes some détails (eagle emblem and white stripes) drawn on different part of the template and quite difficult to line up. Luckilly, Finkeren had already made this skin in 2048 resolution and he helped me a lot for the 4k skin. Now, the weathering pattern is donce, as well as the alpha layer (I've tried to make the red paint slightly brighter than the rest of the plane. Then, I must start and finish the paint chipping (as you now each of my skins has a specific paint chipping pattern). Here are some screenshots of the skin in its WIP state : See U soon. Zargos Posted February 20, 2018 Author Posted February 20, 2018 Hello, The skin of the Captain Pavel Maximovitch Cuvelev is (at last) finsihed.I took me a lot of time to find the color tuning and to acheive a decent paint chipping (according to my standard).I hope that the final result will please you : Download here See U sonn. Zargos Posted February 20, 2018 Author Posted February 20, 2018 Cannot open the file... Is it the link or the archive file itself ? 1
Zargos Posted February 20, 2018 Author Posted February 20, 2018 (edited) Hello, Some of you had troubles in opening the archive file, so I've uploaded (to be downloaded here) a new ZIP file. Tell me if this new file opens normally. All my appologies for the inconvenience. Edited February 20, 2018 by UF_Zargos 1
Zargos Posted March 6, 2018 Author Posted March 6, 2018 (edited) Hello, I'm glad to introduce you a knew Yak1B skin. This skin is dedicated to the personnal plane of the Major Aleksei Mikhailovich Reshetov. It took me a long time and many searches on internet as well as many visits on modelers site to find some valuable information about this plane. The point is that there were many different and contradictory profiles of the same plane. It would be too long to explain here, so I wrote an article on my site to explain how I get the infromation to make this skin. The only thing I didn't succed is to know if the camo pattern was a orverall light grey (AMT11) painting or a more classical AMT11/AMT12 paint scheme, so I've made the two versions : Download here Cheers. Zargos Posted March 9, 2018 Author Posted March 9, 2018 (edited) Hello, Please, note two updates for the skins of Major Reshetov plane. The first correct the wing-fuselage junction which was nos perfect ; Get the updated skin here. The second update is the creation of a skin pack with the 3 non histotical versions of the Reshetov plane : Get the skin pack here Edited March 11, 2018 by UF_Zargos 1 2 4
Yankee_One Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 Nice skins Zargos. For me the link for the 3 non histotical versions of the Reshetov plane (green) does not work. Any ideas? The grey skins are ok. Thanks
Zargos Posted March 11, 2018 Author Posted March 11, 2018 Hi Yankee_One, Try this link : http://www.unbound-frogs.org/zsf/2018/02/28/040-yak1-b-273-iap-31-gviap-reshetov/
bzc3lk Posted March 12, 2018 Posted March 12, 2018 I have the same issues UF_Zargos. This link Télécharger / Download (28 Mo) just sends me to another page instead of activating the download sequence. The other download links work fine.
Zargos Posted March 12, 2018 Author Posted March 12, 2018 Sorry guys for those missleading links. This should be fixed now. Here are the direct links for downloading : Reshetov historical skins Reshetov non historical skins
Yankee_One Posted March 12, 2018 Posted March 12, 2018 Hi Zargos, thanks alot link is working now. My favorite is the one with te yellow outline on the red star. Great skin.
Zargos Posted March 12, 2018 Author Posted March 12, 2018 OK. I'm glad everthing is working properly.
Danziger Posted March 21, 2018 Posted March 21, 2018 Hi Zargos, I finally had a chance to get a proper internet connection on my laptop to send you this. With the Yak-1B skins there are two small issues. First there is the small part in front of the canopy that has the same color of the underside of the plane. The second is more complicated. The wheels have four corners that must be "cut off" by covering the corners with black in the alpha channel the same like La-5 and LaGG-3. I honestly have no idea how you make such good skins. The weathering and colors are great and especially your alpha gives the perfect amount of shine I cannot replicate it.
Zargos Posted March 22, 2018 Author Posted March 22, 2018 (edited) Hi Borys, Thank you for pointing out these little flaws about my skins. I'll correct them as soon as possible. 21 hours ago, BorysVorobyov said: I honestly have no idea how you make such good skins. The weathering and colors are great and especially your alpha gives the perfect amount of shine I cannot replicate it. Thanks for your comment. I'm sure you can handle the alpha layer the same way I do. If you need some help about alpha layer you can try to translate my tutorial (http://www.unbound-frogs.org/zsf/Tutoriels/PDF/150827 - TutoZSF - Skins BOS.pdf). I can give you the values of the shades (RVB scale) that I use for my skins : - Basic painting : 15/15/15 or 20/20/20 - Bare metal parts (paint chipping) : 35/35/35 - Exhausts / Oil leaks and other weathring : 5/5/5 Edited March 22, 2018 by UF_Zargos 1
Zargos Posted March 22, 2018 Author Posted March 22, 2018 (edited) Hello, I've corrected the flaws that Borys had pointed out : Now I've just to upload the updated skins and to publish to new links. I'll let you know when it is done. Cheers. Edited March 23, 2018 by UF_Zargos 1 1 1
