swimbody Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Is VR only available on Steam or can you run it standalone? Any one with any workarounds that are making VR work on the full download version is greatly appreciated. I spent $80 on a full BoS version and am being told I need to spend the same amount to play with kiddies on Steam. Is that right? If so I will wait until a VR version is developed or I get my money back. Thanks for any comments.
MAJ_Balapan Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 (edited) You do not need to buy stream version of BoS to play in vr, but you need to have steam vr software installed on your pc to play. In game graphics settings check the box for vr and restart the game. It should start oculus home and steam vr. Also check 2.09 update notes, it describes how to start Il 2 in vr. https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/12826-game-updates/?p=459578 Edited December 14, 2017 by Balapan
swimbody Posted December 14, 2017 Author Posted December 14, 2017 One question...do I need to be running Steam VR in the background while running the standalone version of IL2?

Yes, when you launch the standalone IL-2, it will automatically launch Steam VR for you. ( of course you first need it installed). Only way to fly this sim in VR currently is through Steam VR.
