ACG_Smokejumper Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 (edited) Hello, I've a request for hopefully a future addition. Can the devs please make make the field of view larger? I fly in other Sims and full extension which gives more peripheral vision. In Cliffs and DCS for example I extend the field of view to maximum which creates a slight fish eye. This is corrected by my curved monitor. To get what I mean most of us can sit in our chair while reading this and stick our hands straight out to the side and see your fingers wiggle. I'd like to see more to the sides and more of the wing. The current depth of field is quite narrow for any not on a three monitor set up. Before I bought an ultrawide I had to move around so much it caused pain. I'm not old but I'm rather beat up from scaffolding mine sites around the world and have had back surgery. This means the extra movement required causes pain. What this means for me personally is that until a VR mask that allows me to use my full peripheral vision I'm stuck with a monitor so I can adjust my track IR to make me move less. I can not currently afford two more monitors to correct my issue without a game change. An improvement here will be great for added side vision and save a bit of discomfort on those of us flying with injury. I'll post a video of how I fly in Cliffs so you may see what I mean. If I have posted in the wrong area to get this request to a developers eyes please let me know and I'll post or PM to the correct section/person. I've been patiently waiting to get into the game from early access. You've done a great job and I've been enjoying the work you did. Thanks for your time. Kind regards, Smokejumper Edited December 14, 2017 by 7./JG26_Smokejumper 1
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 is that fully Zoomed out (default is zoomed in like 1/3 of way)is that with seat moved fully backwards ? just curious
ACG_Smokejumper Posted December 14, 2017 Author Posted December 14, 2017 (edited) Full zoomed out yes then I use track IR reset to centre myself in the cockpit. For 109s I lean a little left so I'm behind the gunsight. It's very helpful for tracking targets as we move around each other. I find I move my head a lot more in BoS even after I've tweaked my track IR for BoS specifically. In this you can see the slight fish eye it gives before I got a curved ultra wide. ACG_Smokejumper Posted December 14, 2017 Author Posted December 14, 2017 Could a mod move this to Dev Assistance suggestions please? I don't want to spam the board with a personal request. cheers
Capt_Hook Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Heh.. just reinstalled after a couple year absence (and buying BoM and BoK), and I came to the forums searching for this topic. The IL2 engine is pretty and runs great, but the default FoV makes me feel claustrophobic.
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 What FOV Do you suggest as for multiplayer it must be locked to a set FoV So nobody is given an Advantage in being able to see moreBut if you choose a set FoV Then users on other screens will have warping and fish eye effects.,So which should the devs hardcore / force4:3 is 90 degrees fov 16:10 is 100 degrees fov16:9 is 106 degrees fov
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 My aspect ratio is 21:9 and guys with 3 monitors had it even bigger...
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 yes but can't allow them to have much larger Fov as in MP its an unfair danvtage to those without such large screens and so on.i know it sucks but no other way to balance it.
Recon Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 yes but can't allow them to have much larger Fov as in MP its an unfair danvtage to those without such large screens and so on. i know it sucks but no other way to balance it. why ? - make the sim better, not make it more 'fair' A larger screen should provide more visual range FOV, not just a 'bigger' lack of FOV. 1
1CGS LukeFF Posted December 25, 2017 1CGS Posted December 25, 2017 yes but can't allow them to have much larger Fov as in MP its an unfair danvtage to those without such large screens and so on. i know it sucks but no other way to balance it. That's like saying people shouldn't be able to use TrackIR, VR, or an advanced HOTAS system, because not everyone has those things and because someone's feelings in MP might be hurt. 1
SharpeXB Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 I find the ultrawide fisheye FOV in DCS and CloD to be extremely awkward. DCS provides a way in its response menu to limit the max zoom out. I’m not sure about CloD Blitz. IL-2 would need this option to prevent the wide view from being awkward for most players. A response menu like RoF has would work.
