Hauksbee Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 (edited) This morning I was exploring the UI; looking into Quick Combats, Scripted Battles, and Campaigns. I've noticed that ever since I bought the pre-release Battle of Kuban, the game defaults to BOK when I launch the it. Today I found the screen with "Battle of...." options. There was BOM, BOS, Part 1, and BOS, Part 2. All three were locked. I understand Battle of Moscow being locked; I haven't bought it. But I did buy "Battle of Stalingrad"; the disc is sitting on my desk. Why is this? How do I unlock it? Thanks. Edited December 12, 2017 by Hauksbee
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 (edited) I feel like you're incredibly confused on how the product/activation/licensing/launcher works but that's entirely on the fault of 777/1CGS doing very little to elaborate on their confusing system. Also, the disk is moot and pretty pointless. The game updates through the launcher. This isn't like WOFF where you have to repurchase access to your download or where the disk actually serves a purpose when your download is no longer available. I get the "feel good" premise of occasionally dusting off the box but the disk does nothing aside from provide that dopamine hit. You play the campaign chapters to advance the campaign chapters. It's a lousy holdover from the early days when the game had XP, unlocks, pilot levels and other doofy stuff. A better pilot-persistent campaign/career system is coming shortly. Hauksbee Posted December 12, 2017 Author Posted December 12, 2017 Spot on, Space Ghost! I am incredibly confused on how the product/activation/licensing/launcher works and now that I know the disk is moot and pretty pointless, I will henceforth use it as a coaster for my beer. But...back to my main problem: how to unlock my "Battle of Stalingrad" content? Secondary problem: I bought two "Collector Aircraft": the Ju-52 and the La-5FN. This morning as I was gearing up for a Quick Combat, I noticed the Ju-52 had magically appeared among the Enemy Aircraft line up. But not the La-5FN. How does one shake that one loose? (the Collector Spitfire is in the line up.)

Hauksbee Posted December 12, 2017 Author Posted December 12, 2017 The La-5FN has not been released yet. Maybe next month Aha! Thanks.
Dakpilot Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 La-5 fn is in pre-order stage, and not yet released. Expected in the next month or so. Ju-52 should always have been in enemy aircraft section, but are you able to fly it, have you activated it, and BoS code ? Cheers, Dakpilot

TP_Silk Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 One thing to point out here is that if you've purchased a copy of IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad on a DVD, those were, I believe, intended solely for the Russian market and will have certain restrictions applied. For instance you may have to play through the old 'unlock' system (excuse me if this information is out-dated).

If this disc was made solely for the Russian market, wouldn't it in Russian? The La-5FN has not been released yet. Maybe next month Not released yet. Of course. Being the new kid here, I keep getting fooled by all the La-5FN's I see dogfighting on YouTube.
Jason_Williams Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 BOS on a disk is very old at this point. Just buy digitally. BOS on a disk will go away in the near future. Completely obsolete at this point. Jason 3

If my hard drive goes belly up (and they can) I want a hard copy sitting on my desk/ However, the main issue in this thread is "How do I get "Battle of Stalingrad" Parts #1 & #2 unlocked? What you are seeing are La-5s, not La-5 FNs, exept you watch videos of IL2 1946. OK. That would account for it. My Aircraft Identifying skills never did run strong in Russian aircraft. Hauksbee Posted December 13, 2017 Author Posted December 13, 2017 Ju-52 should always have been in enemy aircraft section, but are you able to fly it, have you activated it, and BoS code ? Yes, I flew it last night. Twice. I selected a Peshka as the opposing fighter. The game spawned in the Peshka at exactly the same altitude, and dead ahead. Twice the planes flew into one another. Odd. I would have thought the AI would have the Peshka take evasive action.

Jade_Monkey Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 @Hauksbee, you will never have an updated version of the game with the DVD versions. New planes and patches come out constantly, you should probably just bite the bullet and go digital at this point. 1

New planes and patches come out constantly, you should probably just bite the bullet and go digital at this point. I don't know about the cheap DVD version, but with the default DVD version of BOS, you go digital anyway, as you just download the game and then everything runs through STEAM, you don't need the DVD anymore, as the game is saved in your STEAM account, and I think in your IL2 STURMOVIK account, too.
=SqSq=switch201 Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Wait so if you buy the disk I figured it would give you game version 1.001 (or what ever was the release version of the game), but when you connect to the internet, the launcher would update your game for you. I have digital, so I have no idea, but I figured that's how it would work. But from what Jade is saying, it sounds like that is not the case?
216th_Jordan Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 (edited) Please go to il2sturmovik.com and log into your account. There you should be able to see all your license keys. Now to me it sounds like you created 2 accounts (one when you bought the DVD version and one now), could that be possible? If so then you might ask the support if they can swap/merge the keys to your favorite account. Edited December 13, 2017 by 216th_Jordan
