Snap to gunsight view and back again

So I've been using the zoom in/out functionalities binded to my stick to give me a better view of targets. This however goes relatively slowly, and I'm really looking for a way to instantly snap between a wide FOV, and a zoomed gunsight FOV and bind those to my stick. Basically want it set up like you could with the old Il2.

I've been mucking around with the 'custom head snap' functionality for the past hour or so, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to properly save 2 custom positions to my stick.

Is it even possible? I'm fairly sure I saw people on YT instantly switch head positions, trying to find those vids atm.

Any help would be appreciated.

did you look at the settings for camera sensitivity?

You can make it as fast as you want from the Camera settings. You can also save custom views with F10 . For example save the zoomed gunsight position and map it to your stick. Every time you press that key, you'll get the perfect gunsight view.

With the gunsight getting hit every time some enemy points his guns at you, saving the view through the irons isn't such a bad idea either. ;)

Yeah ramping up the camera speeds kinda solves it, but it's not entirely ideal.

The custom view safe seems to work fine, but the problem for me is that it only seems to work for 1 viewpoint. Is there a way to save 2 different viewpoints to 2 buttons?

The following excerpt from the ROF manual is for creating custom snap views for ROF , I believe should work the same for BOS. Now whether it is all implemented yet or not in BOS I can not say...

So you should be able to save multiple snap views to numbers on the keypad, then maybe map them to your stick through your controller's software?

Creating a snap view:

Creating a custom snap view is especially handy when you want to quickly shift your camera view to a specific position, such as a gun sight. To create a custom snap view, please note the following steps:

1. Ensure any head tracking software is disabled and that your camera mode is set to Snap View by pressing the F9 key (Head: snap mode). You can confirm your camera mode is in snap view mode by pressing and releasing any of the numpad keys from 0-9 (excluding the numpad 5 key) or the numpad decimal key.

2. Press and hold any of the numpad keys listed in step 1.

3. While still holding down the numpad key, adjust your camera view as described in steps 3-5 in the "adjusting the default head position" section.

4. Once you are satisfied with your changes, press the F10 key.

5. To switch to the custom snap view you have created, press the key you chose for the custom snap view in step 2. In addition, you can map this custom snap view to a button on a game controller. To do this, please refer to section 5.1. All of the snap view commands can be found in the Pilot head control section of the Controls screen.

Note: you can back up your custom snap views and edit them with a text editor by navigating to the \Rise of Flight\data\LuaScripts\snapviews folder.

I have a button on my stick setup to "look down the sights", it works great...but what I want is for when I press the same button again it snaps back to my regular view. Right now all I can do is zoom in, there's no easy way to zoom back. I'm sure there's some manual way to set this up but I haven't figured it out yet.

Use the key bind for [Pilot head: Reset zoom]

EDIT: just realised it's a few years old but might help someone new lol.
