Does anyone know if the devs are going to make the animation any more sophisticated than it already is like the DCS P-51D bailout animation?

I think so! Something that was overlooked by the devs. BoS's one is more universal which I like.

Is that spit pilot going for afternoon tea or bailing out? Honestly, I can't see anyone jumping from a crashing plane like that. I like BoS's best of the three shown. DCS's looks good too though.

The CloD one looks a bit off...

 

I love the DCS: World one where the guy just strikes this really strange pose after he gets to ground. One time he went in a river, hovered on it before getting into his pose, and when he got into his pose he sank.

Realistically, didn't most pilots (to the degree possible) loosen the harness, do a half roll and simply fall free of the cockpit?

Pretty much, another common method was to kick the stick forwards after unbuckling yourself. That's what we seem to have in BoS.
