Rjel Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 Here are a few shots I took at the museum last February. I'm eager to go back again as I missed an entire wing of the display. There are several WWII era airplanes to gander at along with WWI and Golden Age A/C. These may be replicas, I don't remember, but they are nicely done. Lots of jets from the early period up to an F-14, F-18 and even an SR-71. Awe inspiring. Absolutely mind boggling to stand so close to one. The last picture is of an airplane I never imagined I'd see in person. There is also a restoration shop to wander with an F4F and SBD being restored after recovery from Lake Michigan. Also on display are numerous engines, from an Allison to a Merlin to an engine from the SR-71 and several in between. IMG_1680 by IMG_1711 by IMG_1695 by IMG_1713 by IMG_1704 by IMG_1677 2

Rjel Posted December 8, 2017 Author Posted December 8, 2017 Last one I think. It was on loan from either the USAF museum or the Air and Space. Can't remember for sure.

BeastyBaiter Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 Yeah I knew they flew them, thought all 3 were destroyed long ago.
