It's a G4 ..not the G2 ..still ...

A great read of what it's like to strap into this beast and fire it up ..takeoff ...fly ..land ..and grin about it afterward :)

A lethal instrument in the hands of the Experten.

-just sayin

Thx for sharing @Grayeagle !

Unfortunately, far from the experience we get in IL-2 taking of in any of the 109s... Too easy, with tailwheel locked or even unlocked, engine to the firewall in a blink of the eyes... stick fwd at any speed / power to raise the tail... No problem at all, and good rudder authority all through it ...

It's a simulator, I know :-/

To be contrarian...

I read the same article about a week ago and I found it connecting extremely well with my Bf109 experience in IL-2. Maybe the initial rudder effectiveness is a little low or maybe I'm doing something in the sim that a real pilot just wouldn't do but that aside when he talks about flying it, the thrill, the performance, how things feel, basic thoughts on the controls and how the plane responds... IL-2: BoX does this experience really really well.

Inflight I fully agrre. Actually, bouncing ( the infamous wobbling in pitch ) out, inflight IMO IL-2 aircraft are very plausibly modelled, but on the ground, taxiing and taking off in some of them looks really too simple / uneventful to me...
