Max_Damage Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 A good fighter that carries a big stick - low to medium altitude only. However that describes most air activity on the eastern front. yeah good like a pe40 or?
BubiHUN Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 I just hope they can release it before Christmas.
Finkeren Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 yeah good like a pe40 or? I imagine the P-39 and P-40 will feel very different from one another. Completely different design philosophy.

schurem Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 Next major update is almost here Do you have any evidence to back this up?
Finkeren Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 Do you have any evidence to back this up? "Almost here" can mean a great many things. I took it to mean "within the next month or so".

IV./JG5_weee Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Late to late January or later, sad news
Brano Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 I'm looking forward to the coop mode. I'll adapt my server to use that instead. I'm envisioning something like that: A bunch of players decide to meet at a certain time. They go to my website which shows the current map status. They get a list of missions to choose from. They pick one, and the server builds the mission, populating only the area where players will be flying (with some margins). Mission is launched, and when it ends results are collected and the campaign is advanced accordingly. Benefits: My server doesn't need to be on, running heavy missions with AIs around the clock. Instead it will do that only when people are on. I'm sure the hardware will like it. Missions should feel (even more) densely populated with AIs and targets. I'll be able to better integrate players and AIs, i.e. have a wing escort your flight of bombers, the same way it works in single player, or be a part of a wing of bombers even if you are the only player flying bombers on your side. No need to spawn AI planes, and can simply activate them, which allows them to behave like proper wings. I'm also looking forward to the rain effect. Flying a bomber in rough weather, using the non-directional beacons to find your way back home, or simply doing a transfer flight is going to be even more interesting and challenging than it is now.I'm also curious to see if the increased horizons also gets rid of some pop-in on the Kuban map, and whether the map plays more smoothly. Right now I can notice it's heavier than the other maps. Maybe we have to live with that, it would be understandable, but if there's any optimization that's been done on the map I'll be happy to get it. I'm so looking forward to this. I hope you'll manage that. This is only thing that can bring me back to fly online.
Sky_Wolf Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 1. Improved rendering distance 2. Career mode 3. New rain effects 4. New planes
ShamrockOneFive Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 I've put together a summary of what is coming for everyone in-case you need a refresher. https://stormbirds.blog/2017/12/09/il-2-patch-3-001-content-and-features-were-waiting-for/ 4
Jade_Monkey Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 As far as i know, the new rain on canopy was not promised for this upcoming patch but some time after. We all know sometimes they underpromise and then deliver more but given how big the BOK release update will be i think it's reasonable to expect the rain a bit later.
EAF_Starfire Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Next major update is almost here and nobody is talking about it, all i see is BoOB threads! Nobody is looking forward to A-20? Is rain improvement confirmed to be in the next update or it will be delayed for the 3.0xx? Did devs mention will next gfx improvements have any hit on VR performance? Sorry, Ribbon. But I have been busy with Sqd stuff. To me the A-20 is the pinnacle of Kuban, next after the map itself. I can't wait to get an air-conditioned cockpit and a build-in Coca-cola vending machine My latest experience with the radial engines in this game does place a damper on my expectations. Our temporary switch to Axis side this month and my experience with the Fw190 glass jaw engine makes me fear that the developers will use the same damage model. The rain just gives me the ability to raise the difficulty of our navigation test for trainees I very much doubt that we will see it a lot in the online servers (except Finish Dynamic Air War). Maybe in war campaigns like "In War" (http://inwar.club/en/) Most players will bitch so hard that it will get removed. ATAG's CloD server is a typical example. The rest of the aircrafts are 'just' nice. 1

The rest of the aircrafts are 'just' nice. I'm sure guys running Finnish dynamic war will use weather features like they did so far (fog, overcast, day/night...), but also it might depend on performance hit.Yeah i must admit even i'm mostly yak/peska pilot that Fw190 and 109 engines are too fragile compared to allied planes, one hit and engine will stop moment after. I don't know is it a plane flaw or guns difference, same goes for Fw190 wing structure. I'm sure somebody already addressed it by now so we might get tweak/fix in the next update like we did so far with each big update. Reward is bigger when you shot down more powerful plane such as 109/190. 2

Tomsk Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 (edited) I can't wait to try the career mode. Everything else is going to be super too, but a career from start to finish is what I'm looking forward to. I'll need several for different roles on each side. Can't wait to do this in VR. I loved the career in RoF For those that can't wait for the career mode, I can't recommend enough the Pat Wilson Campaign Generator (PWCG) https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/19183-introducing-pat-wilson-campaign-generator-bos/ It's essentially a career mode built outside IL2 BoS. You choose a squadron to fly with, as a fighter or a bomber. PWCG then generates missions to fly of many different types, if you don't like the look of the mission from the briefing you can generate a different one. Every mission is highly randomised, with lots of other flights going about their business (both friendly and enemy), you might bump into them .. or you might not. At the end of the mission PWCG tracks your kills and pilot status. You can be killed, or injured, or captured or maybe you'll get promoted after enough missions. You can be awarded medals for various things. The same is true for all the (virtual) pilots in your squad. It has honestly totally revolutionised my single player experience (I like both SP and MP). The missions it generates are vastly more interesting than the default campaign (which are basically all the same). You have to keep your wits about you, as you never know where the enemy might be. I also really love that it tracks your pilot status, I've been playing it "Dead is Dead" (self-imposed) which is a super tense experience! Edited December 13, 2017 by Tomsk

I am 192 missions into my first PWCG campaign and absolutely loving it! It is a fantastic program, Pat has done a wonderful job with this piece of software.
