Huckle Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 DCS currently has a lock on realistic military choppers, at least as far as flight modelling goes. However, their new DRM might kill the series for me, which means that I'm looking for alternatives. Is the Digital Nature engine capable of replicating helicopter flight dynamics to the same degree as DCS? I'm not hoping for the next AH-64D sim, just wondering if 777 would consider Bell 47... or H-19... Or even Korea as a next sim

MrNoice Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 ??? why. I think il2 is ww1 ww2 and not post war for now... I would rather have more ww2 planes than any chopper. it would be ok if he had more planes but since there are so few planes I wouldnt think its a good idea.. stick to dcs even you dont like the new DRM but I think its better than the old system... all modern games have it.
Mitthrawnuruodo Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 I think we need player-controlled trains. The engine can already handle trains very well. Many people want Deutsche Reichsbahn simulator. It will be very exciting, especially when there is a chance of air attack. Il-2 trains will certainly beat all competition. I am ready to pre-order. 1

So few planes? Are you serious? There's a lot of diversity in this sim. And to be honest, I prefer the numbers of planes we have, but well done instead of a mass in arcade mode. "Less IS more" I think we need player-controlled trains. The engine can already handle trains very well. Many people want Deutsche Reichsbahn simulator. They better concentrate on what they really master. Your thoughts are nice, but I think this won't happen. We have planes, we should get more tank and people are more demanding already now - some want infantry, some will for sure ask for drivable lorries, other might want traffic air control etc. - it's going to be an never ending story.
Mitthrawnuruodo Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 Don't worry, just joking about the trains. You're entirely right that it's a never-ending story. Though sometimes dreams come true, as with Tank Crew for me. 1
EAF19_Marsh Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 @ RAY-EU I love the theme music for that film; best Christmas move alongside Die Hard
LLv24_SukkaVR Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 Wags said somewhere in FB comments recently that they have plans for new and better DRM system.
Blooddawn1942 Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 (edited) The Landscape on Kuban is so nice. I wish we could get a Farming Simulator where you have to drive around in fancy tractors. Edited December 6, 2017 by Blooddawn1942 1

Don't get me wrong, I like that 777 stick to one arena at a time. I'd personally like to see Korea done properly, as original Il-2 project never got off the ground, but certainly not expecting - I don't think they've even mentioned it. I'm just curious as to if engine is capable of advanced flight dynamics. Regarding DRM, I don't care if modern games have it or not - unless DCS come up with an amended version, I can't use it and won't invest any further in their products. So, fingers crossed.
coconut Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 Isn’t DCS new scheme basically the same as IL-2? If that doesn’t work for you, you are out of luck. Also I wouldn’t expect modern stuff from IL-2 any time soon. No simulated HUD, no radar system, no IR sensors...

Not expecting anything modern... if they can do Me-262, then MiG-15 seems not a big step? Apart from radar gunsights, there is not much more in Korea than in WW2 except helicopters. Just blue-skying here, but my dream sim would be MiG Alley 2 with helicopter medivac and jets off carriers.
Lensman Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 Hmmmm ... Pacific/Korea? Pacific .. /Korea? Paci ... PACIFIC!!! 2

II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 The Landscape on Kuban is so nice. I wish we could get a Farming Simulator where you have to drive around in fancy tractors. You have to wait for the Germans to complete their conquest to get the FANCY tractors. Now pick up your hoe and get back to work!
Mitthrawnuruodo Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 It will be very sad to see your farm burn when the front line advances.

Sign me up for the preorder as well.

ShamrockOneFive Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 (edited) We could have the Cierva C.30 autogyro Auto-gyro's aside I don't think helicopters are suitable for a WWII or WWI sim. Just because DCS has a lock on it doesn't mean that it makes sense for the series to delve into something it doesn't need. Also DCS' new DRM system is the same as IL-2s. They are going away from Starforce (thank goodness) and locking it to a per user account system like we have here. Edited December 7, 2017 by ShamrockOneFive
Danziger Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 Does that mean I won't have to deal with the stupid number of activations left every time I have to reinstall DCS? I've had to buy a second mig-21bis.
Mitthrawnuruodo Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 Wow! This sounds really exciting. I love the MiG-21bis, but the DRM gave me a headache every time I had to reinstall my operating system after hardware upgrades. If this has improved, I will be rather pleased.
Huckle Posted December 7, 2017 Author Posted December 7, 2017 (edited) They're replacing it with a system that calls home continously, if you're offline for three days or more DCS stops working. A deal breaker for those of us who aren't continously connected. Sikorsky R4 would be fun, but they saw little action... Edited December 7, 2017 by Huckle
Mitthrawnuruodo Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 That is a bit disappointing. I would have expected a slightly more elegant DRM solution. Others have shown that it is possible.
Huckle Posted December 7, 2017 Author Posted December 7, 2017 Does that mean I won't have to deal with the stupid number of activations left every time I have to reinstall DCS? I've had to buy a second mig-21bis. Really? I ran out of activations and just emailed them to get more.
Guest deleted@30725 Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 and if you deactivate the module before deleting you get an activation back.. The activations adds up when you reach zero after some time as its designed to work far into the future after the activation servers are gone. There are plenty of threads about this on the dcs forums.
