Ok guys I am in the market for a new stick. The Logitech is buried somewhere deep inside my storage unit and I really would not like to go digging around for it. I am looking at VKB Gunfighter with modern combat grip or the VIRPIL Mongoos T-50. The Gunfighter has the metal gimbal and the Virpil has contacless sensors? What exactly does this mean and what are the advantages? The Gunfighter can supposedly be converted to twist rudder but not the Virpil. I can't really use pedals as I am in the sleeper of a semi truck so no space for them and no way to really sit and use them as I mainly sit on my bunk to fly. I am just wondering what would suit best.

They are both all metal gimbal, and both of good quality.

With your situation and where you will be mainly using the stick, VKB may better suit you as the Virpil is not a desk top stick but made to be center mounted using a desk mount.

Thanks  :salute:

Most welcome.

Also not sure when the twist adapter will be ready , they have had some delays getting the MCG stick out.

No worries. I can wait. Would I need the Gunfighter regular or Pro model? And what is the difference exactly?

I think the Pro is more for those that want to center mount it to a desk with extension, rather than using on a desk top. Includes stick extension and heavier springs.

Ok I found a comparison chart on their website. A few of the buttons have more functions.

Yes, referring to the Pro Grip, that does have a few more buttons.

Seems that VKB future optional twist rudder (in development) add-on will be available only for MCG and MCG PRO grips for use in Gunfighter base only.

I pre-ordered the MCG Pro from VKB. They kept delaying the release and the excuses are inconsistent across different sites.

Ended up cancelling and ordering from Virpil (havent received it yet).

The reason i changed my mind is that Virpil has shown much better communication and also that they can deliver. They havent been around for long but they are already doing much better than VKB in my opinion.

Yeah, only reason I ordered the Gunfighter back in March when it became available to pre-order, was knowing that the MCG grip was coming - at that time it was supposed to come much sooner.  Shortly after getting the Gunfighter I also ordered the kit to turn it into the Pro, with the adapter and extension kit along with heavier springs. All of that is still sitting here in the box, still awaiting that MCG Pro grip. I had thought about cancelling the grip, but already have so much invested into the Gunfighter figure I might as well keep my order in.

However in the meantime, I also pre-ordered the Virpil offering along with desk mount and extension kit, all have been received and I have now no telling how many hours of flying with the T-50 stick, and it is awesome indeed. Granted Virpil also ran into a bit of a delay early on, but it was just a few weeks.  I look forward to hearing your thoughts when you receive yours.

Whenever I do finally receive the MCG Pro grip, I will set up the Gunfighter  to give it a try. I guess at some point I will either relegate one or the other to a back up, or sell one of them.

In the case of the OP though, I think with his situation and where he will be playing, VKB makes sense as it does not sound like he would have room for a center mount style setup with pedals.

If one look in past years, most of VKB stuff promised for end of a given year, only was released after New Year or after the Chinese Lunar New Year (February), so don't count with then for Christmas. :)

But their are working hard to fill this promises: ;)

I guess this is  reason that Flighsimcontrols (VKB seller in Netherlands) now don't take pre-orders until the products hit their store, in Mambas days this delays reach several mounts.

Another reason why I went with Virpil was because i really like the looks of their throttle and I'll most likely get it. They said somewhere that owners of the stick will get some sort of discount on the throttle when it comes out.

I too have been disappointed with the delays. I've not cancelled my pre-order yet, but the thought has crossed my mind.
