I have the Saitek X55 and Pro rudder pedals.  For the stick and throttle i have the Saitek software that lets you setup curves.  Which is better to use the Saitek curves or the in game curves?  If i use the Saitek curves how do they interact with the curve setup in the game?

Dont have Saitek but I'd recommend leaving the saitek stuff alone and just using in-game curves if you want. I dont use any curves personally but if you want to then just use the ones in-game.

Someone who uses the same stuff as you will have better advice.

Any curves you have in the saitek software will be applied before the game gets to read that input.  This results in two curves applied on top of each other, at maximum, you'd have a twice as sharp curvature if both were used together.

As for which is better, my ideal advice would be none.   Ideally you want as close to linear as you can get without becoming twitchy.   Of course, this is the x55 we're talking about, so unless you're willing to do some "joystick surgery" and be generous with your duct tape, it is much too sloppy (esp. near the center) to be used without a curvature of at least 50%

Before I "upgraded" my own x55 into something I felt confident with, I tried many combinations of curves in this way and that, never feeling particularly pleased with any.

The least unsatisfactory option was simply to leave all axes linear in the programming software and apply curves in the game itself.  There is no practical difference in doing this the other way around though, only that I find it easier to adjust in the game than having to alt+tab and wait for it to recalibrate itself.

David, I have set up my controls by spawning in QMB with Aircraft  Parked. I can then watch the controls move as I move my controllers . Its a bit of back and forth with Settings but it is worth it...Just bear in mind that "Curves" are a "Double Edged Sword".. Especially with Centered controllers (which most of us have)....For example : If you have a Curve setup for fine Control near the Centre (Take-off, Landing ,Level Flight etc ) you may find that the Curve is not good at the 75% mark. You are pulling High Gs in a turn ,close to stalling and Just want a Little bit more ! This is where that Curve will Bite you !...You move your controller one more Millimeter and your Controls move 20 mm...Not good. Sit in the Cockpit and watch the Responses. Hope this helps mate. ~S~

Just to echo what everyone else has said, I would always set curves in-game and not not through the Saitek software, although ideally you'd want little or no curve (for the reasons jaydee stated above).
