Multiplayer Problems

Has any one ever had problems playing on multiplayer where you spawn in a server, but are invisible to others and vice versa? For some reason, the HUD and Map icons do not appear in multiplayer for me. I have verified all files on Steam and they verify with no problem. No integrity issues found.

Firstly, have you hit H to verify the HUD is on? Check it in a quick mission.

 

Then, which server? Many of the expert servers turn those off as they would not be available in real life/historically.

Hi Livai and Jaydog,

 

I'm pretty sure this happens on expert servers. As HerrMurf already told you - you are not invisible. But

the configuration on expert servers is that there is no icons nor GPS. So you are on the map, but to

navigate and see others (enemies), you need to have visual contact and use the map (Key i).

 

Your configuration of your game is absolutely OK. What you claim to be a problem, actually isn't.

Try again and fly around - maybe you will see contact or at least if you fly straight someone else

will see you and if you are unlucky it will be someone that shoots at you.

PS: Expert servers are hard at the beginning, but there is a lot of fun. Try to survive for the first.

Expert servers the HUD is limited to your compass only. You still get your technochat babble telling you the %'s of throttle and etc. Expert servers doesnt have the mini-map (default key M), use the big map instead (default key O). 

 

As others stated, you have to actually see others with your eyes to be able to see them, no icons.

 

If you were playing in a normal server with icons, then disregard this post.

Unfortunately, Jaydog's issue seems rather unique; therefore also difficult to solve.

Well, I would recomend verifying that "invisible" assumption. Because what the vid seems to shows is more a lack of understanding of game mechanics and stettings, I so kind of suspect a misunderstanding there... and a clear verification of what is wrong and what is not is in order.

I agree, there is probably some misunderstanding when it comes to the HUD and icons. However, the invisibility seems to be something else; you can only spawn so many times on a populated server without seeing someone!

I have verified that the I AM INVISIBLE to both friend and foe on the Wings of Liberty server. Actually all servers. I've already tested it with friends who spawn in at the same time as me. The way we tested it was to simply eject the canopy and we could see the small explosion from it, but not the planes. Then we also took off, and while one stayed on the ground, the other strafed the static aircraft in the revetments, blowing them up. We saw explosions, but no airplanes. Cant see each other taxing or taking off either, ...nothing. This isnt a misunderstanding of "expert" servers..etc. I actually dont mind not having a HUD, but it's the invisible part that is the problem.

Thanks for the update. The misunderstandings in the vid where a bit misleading then. I would anyway recomend taking video evidence of the error, like those canopy explosions together with what settings you use.. it makes it easier to deduce what is actually going on exactly and to narrow down the source of the bug.
