HeavyCavalrySgt Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 I think mine is still "One Six Right" I just watched "The Aviator" with Christopher Reeve and Rosanna Arquette. Ernest Gann's influence is apparent in the dialog, like "The High and The Mighty" and "Islands In The Sky". Sort of incongruously, the mail planes are Stearmans but all these CAM routes were gone by 1934. I guess it is easier to find Stearmans than Jennys or 2-ATs. The movie makes up for it by having a lot of them and some nice shots of take offs and landings and busy rudder work. The very first pilot to fly this route.... well, there are some parallels between real life and the movie - no spoilers. There are also some Tiger Moths, again showing up a little early.
Uufflakke Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 (edited) I've been recommended to see 'Porco Rosso' and reading the story it might be interesting. IMBD rates the movie a 7,8. 4 out of 5 stars. Not bad at all. But I'm not such an animation fan. Till sofar I haven't taken much effort to get the movie somewhere. Lol! Witness my avatar. I am obliged to watch it! I've surfed the internet and if I purchase the film somewhere I definately need to get the Japanese version with the original cast. The English dubbed one is by Disney with Michael Keaton. As soon as Disney puts its hands on something it gets a sugarsweet coat on it. I'm allergic to Disney. Beginning of next year I'm gonna get it somewhere.
