I think the engine smokes (Spitfire and others too eg FW 190) should have a higher velocity at start up, should be similar to gun smokes (i do believe) :russian_ru:

Some videos below:

Yeah ... and we should be able to see fluid leaks streaming from our wings after gun damage if it's visible in the external view, but we can't. It's all a work in progress and amazing nonetheless.

What..

@Lensman We can see fluids streaming from little holes on our wings/fuse (water, oil, fuel and hydrualic fluid)
all visible from both external and internal views
all have different colours of vapour or smoke

Is your game set to Ultra Preset?

As for the OP yes i agree the prop wash should blow smoke more

To be honest, for a 5 sec burst of smoke during start-up I will not be losing any sleep over this topic.

The smoke etc for me is immersive enough without having to measure velocity of the prop wash, or the wind velocity.

The smoke for me gives the effects of a start up, although I'm normally watching the gauges or making sure the brakes are holding whilst looking over the wing-tips and therefore I either usually miss or not register the smoke anyway!

Each to their own I guess!

Hmmmmmmmm......

OK, in that case my apologies for the misinformation and I have some investigation to do.

I AM running ultra but in VR and this is weird. If I get a solution then I'll post it.

There are no homogenous fluids dropping over surfaces even in ultra. What shadow meant were the vapour trails behind you when losing fuel...

There are sometimes fluids "pissing" out from you engine if damaged. You can clearly see it when stopped on the ground.

To be honest if we are talking about effects i would say the one that needs the love is Wingtip vortices. The effect game play as spotting them indicate some action done by the enemy aircraft. at the moment they are so subtle "yet pretty" you can barely notice yours let alone the enemy.

I mean there where quite visible even in low quality ww2 gun cam "at 0:25sec"

I know i saw one that is of better quality well need to find it

have you looked at the leaks in awing after crashing even on ground while not flying you can watch the fuel or oil leaking out of the holes spurting like a little fountain
