von_Greiff Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 Hi all! At the moment I can't afford it, but as soon as I can I will lay my hands on a used VR on ebay. Which one should I get? Aaaand how can I press keys with VR on, can I see the keyboard as well?? Thanks in advance! Have a nice weekend all! yours v.Greiff
BeastyBaiter Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 The only 2 likely to pop up that are worth buying are the Rift and Vive (seller likely moving to Samsung Odyssey). Either is fine, but the Rift is the better of the two for flight sims. As for seeing your keyboard, you don't. The rift can flip up slightly, allowing you to see down a little but you're mostly blind to the outside world. The solution is to map everything to your hotas that you might want while in flight. 1
von_Greiff Posted December 2, 2017 Author Posted December 2, 2017 Thank you BeastyBaiter! (that's what I tought, but who needs the outsideworld : )))..) Then I think I have to get a new joystick as well (still very satisfied with my MS FFB2, but got 1 in mind! ; )..) yours v.Greiff
madcowz Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 I spent a while last night setting up Voice Attack for game options like pause, menu up/down, enter/exit, cockpit view, external view, enemy view and start/stop track record and bail out.The rest (aircraft controls) I am mapping on to my stick and throttle.
Guest deleted@134347 Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Oculus has a small opening by the bridge of your nose that you can use to peek at keyboard/buttons (nose hack lol). Coupled with a small RII keyboard I put on my hand it's a decent solution. Typing messages with one hand is quirky but at least there's a Mouse input...
Madmatt Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Here is the one I use. There are several models that all work (and look) essentially the same. I choose this one for the backlighting. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CNL6Q9C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Madmatt

Might be helpful for once
