Problems getting into the cockpit - only gunner or spectator...

A friend has recently taken the plunge and bought IL2 Battle of Stalingrad ( premium edition ).

 

He reported that when he goes Multiplayer and logs into a given server he is only offered the options to fly as gunner or spectate ?

 

Since I own all Maps, as well as all collector planes, that never happened to me, but I wonder if it might be due to the fact that one does not own a given Map area, she/he is are still allowed to fly in gunner positions or to spectate ?

 

Any hints welcomed,

All maps are available, I would suggest that maybe the server was only using a BoM planeset, and/or limited aircraft availability numbers, or similar hence he had no aircraft available

So, when we go MP, is a session takes place on a Map we do not own, but the aircraft we pick is on our account, we can still play ?

Yes. I don’t own Kuban yet however on action dogfight and tanks I can consistently play the kuban map. Are you sure your friend is clicking on an airfield first. As soon as you log in you aren’t offered any aircraft till you select an airfield to fly from.

Unless you are talking about the bug?     Sometimes when you select a plane to fly and click to spawn in you find you are still on the map but there is no longer a button to let you spawn in, only 'Spectate' or become a gunner.  Your plane has actually spawned but a bug means you are not put in the cockpit so you don't know.  If you click 'Spectate' it fixes the the bug and you suddenly find yourself in your cockpit.

is just the spectate bug he is atalking about nothing special..


OP its a curent bug.
Just tell ya mate when he clicks play and do go into plane.
Reclick map then click spectate (this will put him in plane)
then he must retake a new plane

It should not happen often
