So are the Koreans ?

Big new markets.......... loads a money.

Why is a Korean War Expansion so far in the future, if ever ?

Why do I have to fire up DCS every now and again just for the sake of enjoying the thrill of getting inside and riding a Fagot. She has to be one of my fav, all time, sim aircraft.

Just so you know  Fagot is a Mig-15... With two Gs it is a slur that will get you banned from here for a week to start.. so please do not try to slip this in twice.

I was going to say something about big gamers not necessarily meaning big simmers, but part Jaws quoted in bold ruined the mood for me  .

Yeah, I just don't see that happening. The types of gamers who would rush out and buy IL2: Korea are the same types who would rush out and buy IL2: BoK. Just look at our own forums here. How many of us are from countries involved in the theaters modeled so far? It's a few for sure, but not the majority when looking at the English speaking sections.

Are You sure about that? I always assumed, that there is a huge Russian scene involved with many of my own countrymen involved as well, thus representing the two nations that went to war, which is portrayed in the last three IL-2 outputs.

The Russians don't typically hang out on the English forum and though we certainly have a few Germans here, we a have a whole lot more Americans, Brits, Aussies, Spaniards and so on. What generally draws people to flight sims is a passion for aviation, not some silly nationalism non-sense. Those types end up in CoD or whatever their national equivalent is, if it even plays a role at all in their gaming habits. I'm not convinced it does other than influencing nation choice in MP.

You're referring to the international forum. Don't forget that there are sub-forums, where at least the majority of the Russian community is based.

And its not about nationalism. I for one, fly generally all aircraft, no matter if they're Luftwaffe, VVS, RAF, USAF.

You claimed, that the most customers are from around the world and to a very small degree from the countries involved in the simulated conflict.

While the first is surely true, the latter is just wrong. That's all I intended to express.

While I do agree that most flight simmers are happy to fly anything, from any nation, I do think it makes a big difference if it feels in some way relevant. I imagine a large part of why Pacific fighters was commissioned and one of the reasons why it has been mooted for BoX is because it will appeal to a wider group of N Americans, that's not to say that they wouldn't fly any aircraft, for any nation, but that the draw is to fly and emulate real life events that feel in some way relevant or connected to them.

The Chinese and Koreans have very little past aviation history ( combat) that they might feel is relevant to them but might still be avid flight simmers but occupy themselves with other things because flight simming is generally has a Euro/American centric theme.

Koreans play is LOL, Chineses is PUBG.

BTW - VKB engineer (living in China) say that most of flight simmers there is in DCSW modern jets.

You mean that there's a "wider group of N.Americans" that has interest in aviation history, but don't buy flight games if they don't have their "P-51 win the war"?

So they prefer don't play anything and wait a decade or more for their "perfect sim"?

Hm...

I frequently take 21 (RAAF) Sqn or 112 Sqn aircraft no.25 for a ride just because it's so funny to see the reactions when you pop up on one's six with that tailcode, but this... is... something.

Cheers!

You don't have to be scared.

Phobic is probably more apt.

There's actually a very active Chinese flight simulation community, including a massive squadron that flies TAW often and an official 3rd party developer in DCS.

If to consider pandering to audiences Korea does a great job since the aerial warfare there is an equally strong theme in Western, Eastern bloc and Chinese aviation mythology.
