[Head-tracking] How to handle the inverted X axis (strafe axis), while looking back?

With TrackIR, if I want to look backwards and strafe my head left or right, I have to invert the X axis to mimic the proper head behavior. Otherwise, everything is backwards and unnatural feeling.

The consequence to this of course is when looking forwards my head strafing is reversed. The only time this really seems important, is taxiing the runway, since I don’t really use the X axis for much else while looking forward. So I keep head strafing inverted, because checking my six is much more critical than taxiing. That doesn't mean it isn't annoying though... I would love to be able to use natural head strafing while looking forward.

It would be nice to have natural head movement along the X axis in both directions. So left is left, and right is right, whether I’m looking forward or backwards. Is there a solution to this problem? Something in the TrackIR configuration that I am missing?

I used trueview for a long time but recently switched back. Trueview is nice at first but then you always get weird behavoir when looking forward again with snapping views and such.

It better just to keep training without trueview. If you are new to it I recommend leaning to the side first, then turning around. When you become good with it its a lot better than trueview.

Yea, I'm starting to realize how quirky trueview can be.

I'll keep your suggestion in mind.

I also got into the habit of leaning to one side and then looking back.

Slightly annoying way to have to do it, but once you've got the habit of it it's easy enough.

this is pretty much what you would have to do in real life or when using VR - not a big issue if you ask me.
