Hi, is there any way that TS can mute or lower volume of the game while someone esle is talking? Right now i have to use like 10% volume in IL2 so i can hear others but i barely hear engine and other noises from the game. So i would like to mute or lower game just when someone is talking and then unmute. Is there any way to do that? Some plugin etc.?

Thanks

I've got windows 10 and a keyboard with voulume controls. With seperate speakers for TS just pressing mute on the keyboard mutes the game without muting TS

Thanks, but im looking for something that will make TS sound on higher priority. -> just when TS app is making some sound IL2 app would lower its volume, but i dont know if it can be done so easily

you can try this:

rIght click on the volume icon in your system tray and click on "sounds"

Go to the communications tab, and select either "reduce by 80%" or "reduce by 50%" when windows detects communication activity.

Personally, I have never used this feature, so have no idea how well it works or if it will work at all for you.  But if it does as advertised, it might be what you are looking for.

Yeah i read about that and already has it setted by default but windows probably dont take TS as communication program.

Keep the native Il2 volume at 100%. Keep it at full volume or you miss some of the subtle sounds and possibly AAA etc. I run TS native at about 2/3 max. (I can post input/output percentages later. I’m posting from my phone.) Open Windows volume mixer with both programs running and adjust to your liking. I’ve been running it this way and have been satisfied with the setup since EA. No need to cut or dampen sounds while transmitting or receiving.

Problem is i have to keep IL2 volume at 10% and TS volume at max + max dB gain so i can actually hear someone. And i almost barely hear the IL2

maybe i just have too quiet squadmates :D

That is my point. You HAVE to run the native/in-game IL2 volume at 100%.

Adjust it in the Window's mixer only. You can adjust each program individually, including TS, in the mixer.

I run the overall Windows volume at 26 and adjust everything else/programs as appropriate in the mixer.

I pull Il2 down pretty low in the mixer comparitively but I don't miss any in-game sounds or TS chatter. You just have to fiddle with it a bit. Took me about a week to find the settings that worked best for me. You will find a happy medium.

Yeah but thats pretty much the same im already doing, but instead of lowering volume in windows i do it directly ingame. I was looking for some automatic solution that would lower my IL2 volume (in windows) while the TS volume is adjusted (in windows) - when i have incoming transmission. But it cant be done probably... nwm. Thanks for trying to help

Sorry.

Nonetheless, you are missing some important in-game sounds by lowering the native volume. Even though I didn't provide a solution to your problem I still strongly recommend what I've suggested for the reasons stated above.

Good luck

Technically possible:  ReWire Plugin, route game sounds to Pro Tools, apply 'Ducking Gate' to Game, set Key Input to TeamSpeak audio.  When audio is heard down the Teamspeak channel the plugin will duck the signal of the game by whatever you set it to.  Way too much work but it is possible.

The communications detection in win10 half works, it lowers volume only when you are transmitting.

On a side note, the hardest people to hear in TS over engine sounds are those with desk mics rather than headsets. Clarity is lacking in the majority of cases.

Good point - if they additionally couple those remote microphones (and some do ...) with voice activation it becomes a pain in the a.. - unavoidable! :dash:

There are very good light-weight headsets with "open speakers" not dampening the sound in the room. So anyone can combine a 7.1-double-bass-hell-of-a-noise room sound with a proper headset for voice comm. PLEASE use push-to-talk - anyone any time!

I'm using the teamspeak add-on "volumecontrol by Goreki" , it works exactly as the OP wanted. Lowers application volumes when someone is transmitting. Works perfect.

I don't see it on the site anymore. Try the one by Broesel.

I'm in my workplace right now so I can't be sure if this plugin is the one I have been using for years, but you can try it:

When someone talk the general volume is down for EVERYTHING but TS

Glad to help, I don't even remember how I got that one, but it's crazy useful when using big ass speakers around my chair
