I don't know if the answer is obvious but for the new theatre are we going to have new languages and accents?

Polish, American, new Zealand, Canadian, United Kingdom...

Sorry, Because eh, not to be a hoser baud, I'd like to some voice acting for Canada...

Jks.

It would be fun to have a new mix of chatter on the radio.

"Repeat please..."

By that same logic we should have had countless dialects and accents for the Russian radio chatter. The USSR was a country of over 100 nations and distinct ethnic groups.

British, U.S. and German voice work will do fine.

If you want really regional, you need something even Quebeckers make fun of.

"Là la"

"Check ben ça"

"I like the cut of yer jib, b'y."

"How's she cuttin', skipper?"

"Yas b'y you getsim, fetch me couddins'"

I've got more, but I don't feel like getting banned from the forums

Just outside of Toronto here.

Can do absolutely no accents seeing as the SW Ontario accent is nearly universal. 8)

Probably just gonna have a generic accent for each major nation. America, United Kingdom, etc. It'd be interesting if they had regional accents/dialects but It'd be too much considering that most states in the US have their own accent and that some states have more than one and I'm sure its the same for other countries as well.

I know my state has many accents/dialects and some accents in New Orleans vary by what neighborhood you come from. Even the french spoken here varies by what part of Louisiana you are from but there still is only two main versions spoken, Cajun and Creole French.

Would be interesting though to see different dialects.

Edit: just realized this but why is my avatar name Legionnaire? Thats not the name I had before.

The AI voice system is what worries me the most about the Bodenplatte expansion.  The current setup is by far the most irritating and poorly scripted arrangement I have ever had in the last 20 years as a fan of flight sims. It is wholly inadequate and so very far below the quality of the rest of the sim.

I agree heavily on this.. it would be nice for some ,(if not already) actual military procedures.. like using phonetics, proper commands,.. then it play's on the ai to follow instructions.

I dunno, how do you see it needs improvement?

A bit off topic but any way we could get voip in game through the aircraft radio? or at least make it sound like it's coming through the radio. This would greatly improve immersion and help with communication in multiplayer.

Also, hearing ai radio chatter would be pretty cool as well.

To begin with I would get rid of the separate radio static sample (radiostatic4.ogg I think it's called) which plays for a set time beneath whatever bit of chatter is being played.  It is embedded in the encrypted sound file and cannot be changed by the user and makes modding the god awful voice chatter impossible.  It results in a burst of loud static up to ten seconds long if you try to use better sounding speech files.  At the very least, the Devs need to move the radiostatic4.ogg file to the same folder where the current voice files reside so that we can access it.

One of the most important things to change is the very poorly thought out system we have now, where your own pilot character jabbers away to the Controller without heed or reference to you the player.  Half the time a mission starts, and the two start blathering away and come to some agreed course of action among themselves, leaving you to pick up the pieces.  It is frequently impossible to tell if it is "you" that is supposed to be talking or if it is some other AI formation.   Meanwhile the rest of the formation just keep repeating the same phrase.  It isn't good enough.

It would be more sensible if messages to the player were programed to flow like a real conversation.  The controller for example calls you and waits for you to key in a response, then gives you his message.  After that you key in the message received over and out and the conversation ends.  If you do not respond he keeps calling for you a few times more, before finally giving you up for lost.   It would be much better than hearing the controller just reading from his laundry list to nobody in particular with no introduction and no end, he needs to do something like the following:

"This is Control to Alpine 1 (the player or lead of your flight) Are you receiving?"

He awaits your response.  When none is forthcoming he repeats,

"This is control to Alpine 1.  Are you receiving?"

Ah right!  You need to do something here.  You hit TAB and press the affirmative key.  The silent equivalent of,Yes I am receiving you...

"Alpine one, enemy aircraft in sector G12.  Bearing 220.  Altitude 1600"

Thank you control.  You press TAB again and from the list of responses choose the Received and Understood option.

Job done!    You felt like you actually talked to someone and got some useful information in return.

I'd also suggest broadening the AI's lamentably small repertoire of chatter while in combat.  When it first came out, a customer here asked about the irritating repetition in one of the earliest DD's and was told by the developers: Don't worry.  It's just a placeholder.  That was three years ago.

Currently the AI repeat over and over again Engaging enemy, its close!/Engaging enemy, far away!  That's all they do.  They need to say more.  Even if its only ambient chatter that does not pertain to the maneuvers of the enemy or their own flight.  The voice chatter needs to be immersive varied and interesting.  It isn't some "nice to have" feature on the Dev's never-never list.  It is essential, and will enhance everything, from the most complex paid campaigns right through to the simplest QMB mission.

Hopefully Mods on mode maybe able to address the radio chatter inadequacies that are currently in game, if the Dev's don't have the time or resources to spend on a comprehensive radio system. I would love to see flight vectoring over the radio from the home airfield etc.

The RAF are solid chaps with their hats at jaunty angles, I mean just look at Keith here.

Edit: It would be great to hear some cheeky RAF chappies over the radio asking home plate to put the kettle on!

You know, that would actually be pretty cool, voice recorded chatter is a common thing in old IL 2 , where volunteers send in their scripted lines. I do not say this will be easy making radio chatter sounds . But it might be interesting if the community where used as actors

I think it was Janes USAF Fighters had hundreds of spoken lines to chose from that you could use in the FMB. That was cool!

Yes I totally agree, the actual coms with controller would be not only realistic but, I think easier.

It does get confusing when your pilot is communicating without your acknowledgement.

The back and forth with controller is a must..

Also this, I know it's been said that this would cause too much processing errors or something but there's got to be a way.
