AstroCat Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 (edited) Just getting into IL2 (owned it forever though) and I'm doing the usual HOTAS/Keybind routine. Does anyone have any advice for the in-game settings for the X52? As well any profiles to share? Thanks! Edited November 24, 2017 by [TG]AstroCat
56RAF_Roblex Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 (edited) Everyone is different but on my X52 I have zoom on the main hat Up & Down and breifing & screenshot on the Left & Right. Elevator & rudder trim is on the 2nd joystick hat and for those aircraft with aileron trim I use Shift & 2nd hat. The throttle rotaries are for rpm (side) and mixture (top) The slider is wheels brakes (I fly mostly Russian so don't often need individual brakes) The hat at the back of the throttle is used for Oil (Left & Right)& water rads (Up & Down). I have also mapped the La-5 Input cowling to the same as water rads as both just need to be set at 100% & forgotten but LA-5 Input Cowling, I-16 Cowling & P40 Cowling are all on T5 &T6. Flaps are on T3/T4 and rpm for the PE-2 s35 is on T1/T2 as it does not allow an axis to be used. Boost is on the D button. Secondary weapon is on the I button. Tailwheel lock & Canopy are on the buttons on the base of the throttle. That leaves two buttons I don't use yet but I am still deciding out which buttons are needed on those. AstroCat Posted November 24, 2017 Author Posted November 24, 2017 Thanks, very helpful. Oh and also how about the joystick sensitivity settings? I've seen a view videos on it as well, but not specifically for the X52.

AstroCat Posted November 24, 2017 Author Posted November 24, 2017 Yeah, it's interesting most set the sensitivity to 100% but that video is more conservative on the settings. Right now I have them at 100%, I'll have to experiment.
AstroCat Posted November 24, 2017 Author Posted November 24, 2017 Also would you be willing to post your profile?

Flaps are on T3/T4 Ironically, after using the same joystick setting for months, I decided to change some this afternoon. I put the Flaps onto the Throttle hat Up & Down so I could use them quickly during a dogfight without moving my hands. The Water Rads (and La5 & P40 outlet cowling) that were there have been moved to the T3/T4 switches as they don't need to be adjusted so fast and it is OK if I take one hand off the throttle to do it. 1

Sensitivity is innapropriate name for "S" curve, set on 100% are not making the joystick more "sensitive" but less, applying a "damper" in joystick input send for game. At 0% joystick input is 1:1, or joystick input is send for game without alteration = more agile control. Above 0% up 100% joystick input is 1:0.3, 0.5, 0.1... diminished in middle of movement, but is 1:1 at end movement, hence the "S" = more precise control. Edited October 23, 2019 by Sokol1 1
