senseispcc Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 Nicz historic work, this give a extra simulation taste to the IL2 brand, tanks.
Blitzen Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 Seriously; does this mean that we might expect the release of this new Gustav soon ...as early as next week perhaps???
ST_ami7b5 Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 Seriously; does this mean that we might expect the release of this new Gustav soon ...as early as next week perhaps??? I doubt, it was not yet in beta test...
MrNoice Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 Seriously; does this mean that we might expect the release of this new Gustav soon ...as early as next week perhaps??? they said January 2018 )-:
Lensman Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 I understand and agree with laws regarding swastika as a nazi symbol, You've no idea how irritating it is to live in a country that defeated the NSDAP with the alleged purpose of saving the right to free speech and then have the symbol of that defeated 'enemy' banned from a simulation like this. It is, to be fair, utterly ridiculous and beyond parody. 1
1CGS LukeFF Posted November 24, 2017 1CGS Posted November 24, 2017 Really, the swastika topic again? 6
Yakdriver Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 I do like the "Beule" much. But you have brought it, and the Men that flew it, back to life in a spectacular manner. From Finland to the Italian Shores. From Superhero to Average Joe.
A-E-Hartmann Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 (edited) Seriously; does this mean that we might expect the release of this new Gustav soon ...as early as next week perhaps??? Normally the G-6 is expected for January. This was announced on the Russian forum by BlackSix.https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/32262-109-g6-release-date/ Really impatient to be able to test. Rolling_Thunder Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 Really, the swastika topic again? Yeah. Some folk refuse to see things from the devs point of view. Only their own.

1CGS LukeFF Posted November 24, 2017 1CGS Posted November 24, 2017 (edited) I always thought Graf got a bum deal as the war was over so how could he be a collaborator. I guess he could co-operate but what's the point of continuing to fight the war when the war is over? So what about medals and handing over his Diamonds (if in fact he did). They would only have been the paste version with the actual Diamonds hidden at home or something. von Tom The account given in Bergström's biography of Graf and Grislawski is that Graf joined the National Committee Free Germany only to give himself a chance to survive captivity. Even Hartmann joined the same group. Edited November 24, 2017 by LukeFF
Trinkof Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 Yeah. Some folk refuse to see things from the devs point of view. Only their own. Sorry guys, just forget my question, the subject was the finish emblem which is different, and I wanted to know if it was also concerned by the same laws.I did not wanted to troll or bring polemic here. It was a genuine question. Sincere Apologies, S!
VesseL Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 (edited) Very nice, Thanks! edit. Trinkof, noone believe there is no, NO, connection between Finns svastika and Germans swastika. Edited November 24, 2017 by VesseL
Cybermat47 Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 (edited) It will be brought up from time to time until a solution is found to the problem Lensman described. Perhaps we could use a sort of altered hakenkreuz to strike a balance between realism and legally sound... maybe we could take the ‘cross’ area out, and leave only the ‘hooks’. We could also make it so that user-made skins are able to have the full hakenkreuz. Because the developers aren’t actually the ones putting hakenkreuzes in the game, this would mean that user made skins could be 100% accurate without getting the developers charged with hate crimes. But, this is just my suggestion, and - oh, wait, no it isn’t... that’s just been how this game is since day 1... Sorry guys, just forget my question, the subject was the finish emblem which is different, and I wanted to know if it was also concerned by the same laws.I did not wanted to troll or bring polemic here. It was a genuine question. Sincere Apologies, S! No worries. I believe that the Finnish swastika is treated the same as the hakenkreuz by Russian and German law, as are the original Hindu and Buddhist swastikas. Edited November 24, 2017 by FFS_Cybermat47
Uufflakke Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 Very nice, Thanks! edit. Trinkof, noone believe there is no, NO, connection between Finns svastika and Germans swastika. Do I smell a dead horse? Do I hear it getting beaten by an English gentleman? We have had the discussion about Finnish Hakenkreuz here already. https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/31608-developer-diary-part-174-discussion/?p=518949 Does not make sense to start all over again.
Lensman Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 The solution has been found and is stickied right here in this very forum. That says don't post images. It says nothing about legitimate discussion. I fully support the developers request to stay within all international law and I'm in no way suggesting that they are incorrect, my irritation is NOT with them but with the lawmakers who have inflicted this upon Europe. We do not have this ridiculous problem in the UK because we have a sense of perspective and I would greatly appreciate a 'UK Sense of Perspective' toggle switch based on geographical IP evaluation built into the code. Enough now. I apologise for raking this up again and I realise that it serves no purpose. It's just highly irritating but that's been fully acknowledged by all concerned.
Jade_Monkey Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 Seriously; does this mean that we might expect the release of this new Gustav soon ...as early as next week perhaps??? Can't remember if it was a post or in the Q&A but im pretty sure they said these will come in January right after kuban launch.
Lensman Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 (edited) Yeah. Some folk refuse to see things from the devs point of view. Only their own.Completely wrong in this case .. See my post above. I have no contention with the dev's position and you are putting words in my mouth to suggest otherwise. You missed my initial point about free speech and why in Europe that is limited. (& with that, goodnight and my apologies again for dipping a toe into these troublesome waters.) Edited November 24, 2017 by Lensman
Goanna1 Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 Thanks for these historical insights into the actual personalities who flew and often gave up their lives in this world changing war.
FlyingNutcase Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 It's nice to focus on the lives of those that we're in some frail way imitating. An interesting read.
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 I fully support the developers request to stay within all international law and I'm in no way suggesting that they are incorrect, my irritation is NOT with them but with the lawmakers who have inflicted this upon Europe. You know that it was your country that enforced this law (and many more)? Back on topic, the G6 skins look nice. Would be great to have this for the Airacobra as well
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 Panzerbar and Gustav, these skins look AMAZING! I'm really excited for the release, the combination of a great 3D model with such lively textures to go with it is perfect
BMW801 Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 Thank you Panzerbar and Gustav!! You gentlemen are outstanding and your hard work is appreciated by the rank and file like me
Venturi Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Don't you understand Pinko... some people just have to wear Jordan's jersey whenever they play their b-ball games in the cul-de-sac. Personally, I totally agree with you. 1
zak64 Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Excellent work ! Things will look so good with 3.001
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 (edited) The moajority of people do preferr ace skins though. Either for historical reasons or simply because they look more appealing to them. For everything else there are custom textures and that is totally fine. No need to create issues when there're none. E69_geramos109 Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Why the finish eswastica is hidden? The history of the finish logo is completely different to the Nazi symbol. The insignia was put on 1918
Voidhunger Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Even the ww1 swastika on some planes as lucky symbol is hidden in ROF.
[I./JG62]steppa Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Amazing work gustav and panzerbär! I very much like the oil streaks below the engine, would this layer fit on any of our existing 109 wireframes? If yes would you consider sharing them with us desktop-aces who like to delude themselvs into believing they don´t loose thier plane every other flight? Much appreciated , blessings to you!
GridiroN Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Why the finish eswastica is hidden? The history of the finish logo is completely different to the Nazi symbol. The insignia was put on 1918 swastika sare illegal symbols in many countries regardless of where they came from. If they add swastikas, they lose sales.
Lusekofte Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Yeah. Some folk refuse to see things from the devs point of view. Only their own. The Finnish swastika was not a symbol for politics, I think it was a legit question, personally I think the constant attempt to sensor others is more questionable
Royal_Flight Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 It's not an issue, it's an opinion. I would argue that custom skins is where people can indulge the freedom to wear whatever ace's skins they like. And the key point being the whole camouflage side of things in MP; using a custom skin to fit in with autumn is pointless unless the other people on the server have it loaded. I agree, not an issue. The ace skins look great and a lot of research, attention and care has been put into them, and if they are the most popular then it makes sense to include them. But I would also appreciate having a variety of tactically useful, 'generic' camouflage schemes for each aircraft, without even having fuselage numbers or squadron codes or anything. I would also rather fly my own aircraft as myself instead of trying to emulate another pilot's story. Especially not if every aircraft lining up on the tarmac is in the same 'unique' skin. Not a criticism of the work done, just an observation.
