What about a Scripted Campaign about the 22° Gruppo CT that was sent to Russia in August 1941 as part of the Corpo di Spedizione Italiano in Russia, they only received 202s in mid 1942 but i still think a story about these pilots would be awesome. 1

Awhile back I looked into the Italian squadrons that were based on the Eastern front. The campaign would have to "bend" the historical realness of the situation. For example the airfields they used were quite far away from the front. If I recall correctly the maps don't go far enough west...that far. The player isn't going to want to fly long distance every flight. It seems like they didn't fly too many sorties during the battle of Stalingrad either. If anything a non-historical 202 campaign would be cool (at one point I even had a rough outline for mission ideas, variety). But then the guys who want everything to be as historically accurate as possible won't like it. But you also have to make the average player happy, ie nice action, rich target zones, and not super long flight times. Taking the latter into account, making a bomber campaign is just not going to please the "I only want to fly for 20 minutes a sortie" crowd... I still would like to make a mini-campaign for KG55 over Stalingrad...that will be for the die hard bomber bros! Loooong flight times! When brain-storming what campaign I should make I weigh up the gruppe, aircraft type used, airfield location and dates, and the proximity from the front line (flight distance). If following the historical aspects can result in decent flight times to the front line and provide fun missions, then it's a win situation. It's more difficult than one might think finding a balance between "fun gaming experience" and "historically accurate"... take Sirens of Death for example, it's a tad on the hard core side with some missions being 45 minutes, or even over 1 hour. My new campaign for ZG 26 has missions that are usually 30 minutes or less, typically 10 minute flight, 10 minutes action, 10 minutes RTB. A HUGE factor is taking into account the MAX AI SPEED, which we cannot alter as mission designers! Anyways, using the methods described above, I usually rule out far more "possible campaigns" than find ones that will meet all criteria needed...but I mostly have focused on bomber/attack plane stuff. I'm thinking Fw-190 Kuban is the next one I will make... attack, bomb, intercept, escort, patrol... should be some nice variety. I was going to make an IL-2 campaign, but the devs did that already it looks like. I'm glad I didn't waste 200-400 hours on making one. 1
