What is your favorite ac in the coming BoBP and why?

Recommended Posts

Of the coming aircraft's in BoBP, Bf 109 G-14, Bf 109 K-4, Fw 190 A-8, Me 262, P-51D, P-47D, Spitfire Mk.IX, Tempest Mk.V, Fw 190 D-9 & P-38L what would do you prefer and why?

I'll name two.

First, the 262, as I believe it will be a true joy to fly in this sim. Loved it in MS FS, and in IL-2 '46. Yes it needs a looong in-flight for landing, but a joy when you master it.

Second, the P-38. A mean machine with a huge weapons load out. Twin engine as the 262. (I know, I have a soft spot for multi engine ac's - okay!).

Also a reason for choosing these two aircraft's, is that they are mainly ground attack planes. I would have chosen the B-25 if it had been flyable, as I prefer flying bombers.

Your call!

My favourite BoOB Aircraft will be the B-25 and P-38. P-47 and 190A-8 will come 3rd and 4th. Sadly we won't get a Razorback 47.

My top 2 are the P47 and P38. Although I'm starting to warm up to the Tempest while reading about how well it preforms, I'm still not a fan of its looks.

I don't think I can actually choose from the list! I think the Tempest, P-38, P-47 and the 262 will be a blast to fly!

Posted

Well, the P-38 was mainly a fighter, it's initial role was as a high altitude bomber interceptor for US continental defense.

It was used in the ground attack role certainly, but it was primarily a fighter, especially in the Pacific.

As to my favorite plane in the new set...  Kind of a tie between the Tempest and P51D.   As much as I like the P47 and Spitfire, I think the 51 will be better for air to air than the 47 by and large. (I've never gotten on well with the Spitfire, as much as I think it is the most beautiful fighter ever produced).   The Tempest is just such a beast, I like it for that alone.

P-38 for me. Such a beautiful design and powerful machine.

If we had gotten the Spitfire Mk. XIV, I’d have considered that. That ugly mongrel is just adorable, and it would absolutely crush anything with a Balkenkreutz on it in a dogfight (which is probably why we won’t get it)

For me Me262 and Dora and right after that Bf109K

Can't argue with 8 x .50 cal and 2500lbs of ordinance.

1. Flying Circus (OK, OK...)

1. Flying Circus (yes, yes.)

2. P-47 (Turbocharged plane, all manual, and all funtions included. FUN to fly!)

3. Tempest (just because it is the Tempest)

4. P-38 (turbocharged, twin engine and still fun, despit being a bit automatic.)

5. P-51 (Pretty. And pretty automatic.)

6. Spit Mk.IX LF. (Also pretty & pretty automatic but it has a range only as far as down to the next pub.)

7. Fw-190D-9 (As good as an aircraft as good as it gets, but all automatic and I still get shot down in it.)

8. Bf-109 K (All automatic and I still get shot down riding it. Had they put a Maß in that Bavaian crate instead of that little fuel tank, it might have had as much range as the Spit IX)

9. Me-262 (I either don't hit anything with it or I get shot down quickly. Should the engines not burn just by themselves)

10. Fw-190 A8 (Still in practise very much like the ones we have.)

11. B-25 (Can't fly it. AI. Else it would probably be a 5.)

defo Tempest for me.

I am looking forward the Tempest. I don't know very much about it so I am eager to get it on my hands and learn!

I hope somebody makes Pierre Clostermann missions. With Spit V, IX and Tempest V we have all of the big toys. In our squadron we are going to move to the RAF's side. Some of us already have the Spit MkV but now everybody is buying it so we can start fighting on it and later start a conversion to the MkIx and so on with the Tempest.

PS: Actually I can't wait to fly them all like if it was chirstmas

I have always wanted to fly a jet in this simulator so I am probably most excited for the 262 after that its got to be the Lightning as I have always been fascinated with it, should be a pleasure to fly.

I think the entire plane set is very intriguing but it has to be the P-51 closely followed by the Tempest and P-38. There is a 3 hour gun cam out there that has a ton of P-38 ground attack that feature some good action in it.

Tempest.  Favorite fighter of the war

It's a low-altitude beast.  Should be much like the 190A is now (my favorite LW kite), with less roll rate, beastly climb, and better energy retention.  Also 4 20mm Hispanos are... oh so yummy.

Two 20mm Hispanos are already enough to destroy fighters in one pass four of them is going to be  o v e r k i l l

Tempest.  My squadron flew them almost exclusively in IL2 and it was pretty much the only allied plane that could take on a 190 on equal terms and win.  It also had great ground attack ability so you could dogfight and kill tanks without changing planes and without having to accept a compromise.

I am really looking forward to the P-47. I would probably like to fly it purely in the ground attack role if I'm honest though. I'm also really looking forward to some very colorful skins and great nose art for it.

Would have been the spit had it been a mk XIV XVI, but despite the novelty interest in the 262, probably the k4 for me.

Emotionally, the P-47. I'll spend carnaval em Veneza with it. Good at everything and very resistant to damage, it's hot stuff.

The Tempest from an engineering point of view will be awesome though, so much power there.

Generally speaking I'm looking forwards to skimming past trees at 700km/h and swimming in a sea of flak to hit a target.

262 comes first by a long shot. I don't know what use we will make of it as a fighter but I'm surely looking forward to fire up the Jumos !

K4 may get my interest as a second choice, though from a cosmetic perspective I have a soft spot for the bulges on the G14.

'Murican crates, I'll let them to the AI for target practice.

FB Mk VI Mosquito...everything else will pale in comparison.

262 for sure! Can't wait to hear those whining jet engines, and also can't wait to catch myself on fire!

Between Pacific delay and 262 excitement, I just might have to buy 1946 on Steam and use that to tide myself over! (I still have my old '46 DVD but I didn't bother putting a drive in the PC I built last winter lol)

1. Me 262 - First jet, quad MK 108

2. P-47 - Interesting engine, 8 guns, heavy ordnance

Honestly, I am excited to see all the aircraft. They all have powerful engines, heavy armaments, and strong performance.

I'm glad our damage model is better than this in game :)

Fav aircraft? Hawker Tempest V

Why? because she's big, beautiful, fast and deadly.

4 x 20mm Hispano (200 rpg). Need i say more?

I've always been a big fan of the Typhoon and Tempest series. Fast, mean, and meant more for low altititude scraps than flying high... it's a beautiful aircraft too with the semi-elliptical wings and the chin radiator gives it a distinctive appearance. Very competitive with the FW190 series.

IMHO my favourite match was always Tempest vs FW190D-9.

Simply the planeset  is basically the very list of my most liked planes, with exception of the pony and the Schwalbe  (do not care much for either of them)

Can't argue with 8 x .50 cal and 2500lbs of ordinance.

P-47D

The Schwalbe can :P. Considering the 262 in game  the bobmer pilots hsould be glad they are goign to fly p38s and P47 instead of B17s :P

Nah, the DM is just fine in the picture, its just the artist didn't have enough room on the canvas to paint the B-17's who have just unloaded overhead.  ;)

So many great planes in this lineup! Personal favourites: P-47, P-51, FW 190 D9, Tempest

I'm looking forward to the P-51D, not gonna lie. It's always been my favorite warbird, since I was a kid. I know that's a very mainstream and mundane opinion, but I don't mind. I just like the lines of the plane. Wish we had a -B/C model as an option, too, but that's OK.

But really, the most exciting thing for me is Flying Circus. My time spent simming is 95% in RoF to this day, that is the style of dogfighting I most enjoy, though I appreciate what is being done with the WWII planes as well.
