Uriah Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 Are there any controllers that have rocker switches for games like BoX? By rocker switch I mean a switch that is an on/off switch that stays in a physical place. An example is the common light switch or the power button on a pc power supply. I think there are such controllers that work for the Micosoft flight simulator and other such simulators. Last I knew such switches did not work in such games as IL-2 1946. What I would like is to have such switches that would match such controls in the planes that we fly. An example would be raising the landing gear. Some planes had levers and others had a button and some had these rocker switches, or so I think. Regardless, on some controls I want such switches so I have a clue to 'did I do that' without having text come up on the screen to tell me (which I may or may not notice).
Sokol1 Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 (edited) Uria Unless for flapes Bo'X don't offer proper support* for "rocker" switches - or lever switch (latch in OF and in OFF) because all commands are based in "toggle" - press once for ON, press once for OFF, like a keyboard key. Of course you can use a "rocker" for that "toggle" through keymapper with "on press" and "on release" function (Joy2key, SVMapper...), but is not possible avoid inversion, requiring that make a careful check list before hit "fly". * Be this support I mean the possibility to map a button to turn ON (and only ON) something, and other for Turn OFF (and only OFF), example some CloD or DCSW commands. So if you assign the Landing Gear to this rocker, or some lever switch - like the ones in Warthog throttle base, the gear will go up only when you move the switch up - In Bo'X this depends if you start on ground or in flight, in the last case move the switch up result that landing gear came down because the "toggle" only option (press for ON, press again for OFF)) could not prevent this inversion like in the other games. This same issue happens in IL-2:46 (wheres the toggle on option result in that dumb, hateful "R,R,R,R..." for open/close radiator. I am not saying that the rocker switch is not usable there, is usable but with this inconvenient. In VR environment this kind of switch with proper game support is good because give you a tactile feedback of control, switch up, gear or flap up, lights on, etc. Anyway a game controller with "rockets" switch. http://www.derekspearedesigns.com/dsd-flight---flt1flt2.html Edited November 23, 2017 by Sokol1
Uriah Posted November 24, 2017 Author Posted November 24, 2017 Thanks Sokol1. i suspected if anybody knew it would likely be you. Does CloD support this kind of switch?
Sokol1 Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 (edited) In CLoD for most commands you can set a button for ON and other for OFF (besides the toggle option in one button only), so you can use the rocker and even if forget to set the switch before start the flight - for example, you spawn in flight in some mission, but forget to set the switch and he are down, but you can safely move the switch up that nothing will happens, because move the switch up only command landing command gear up, and the landing gear spawn up. This is convenient for people that make "button box", "cockpits"... but for one that just use joystick represent waste in buttons. Edited November 24, 2017 by Sokol1
