Why  no Anton a9 ? they made over one  thousand , this needs to be added

Why no "insert any of 20 other aircraft"

Answer - because they don't have unlimited resources.

Is what it is...tough decisions have to made  and there's only time and budget to produce so many aircraft.

What's wrong with the A8?

Because the A-8 is the far, far, far more common A-series variant for this timeframe (over 6,500 built).

Simple

A9 is the pinnacle of the Anton series , it's the hot rod for Anton lovers , the Dora is not the same , but still cool, don't get me wrong

They built 910, production started in spring 1944.

More powerful and faster than A-8 and it actually flew in Bodenplatte.

Only physical change needed would be 14-blade cooling fan to 3D model.

I'm guessing you'll see it eventually...if I had to guess one way or the other.

Yes, because the "Lufties" are the only ones on the forum asking for other planes to be added, right?

Yep, loved to fly it back in the old IL/2, it was way better than the A8 but I enjoyed flying the A8 also for a good challenge.

Really you should be asking for the F variants, not another A.

Luke, I'm about to drink a little small batch Kentucky bourbon (Elijah Craig).

So I'm all good, champ.

Ahh...but it's a blast to but the hurt on a convoy or armor, then fight your way out of dodge.

I always liked those F's.

you can modify the ingame A-5 to an F-3 ( aka /U17). So i hope we will be able to make an F-8 out of the A-8.

I'd be up for that. But I want a P-51H as a counter measure. 555 were built. 487MPH. I'll take two. :)

This is what I'm expecting is the decision behind the A-8. It's likely they can convert that to the F-8. I've looked a bit into the A-9/F-9 combination but I don't know how prevalent the F-9 is.

I get everyone wanting all of the variants and so forth but obviously the team has to make a decision on the aircraft. It's not all about having the "best" but rather something useful from a historical perspective and something useful from multiple gameplay perspectives like which modifications they can add (like a F-8 possibly) and how many squadrons were equipped with each for the Career mode. Multiplayer and best variant of everything isn't everything though I admit its part of it and they have done a good job of giving us some real fan favourites.

If there are minimal differences between A-8 and A-9 except for an engine and a cooling fan 3D changes... then maybe a A-9 is an "engine modification" away from being available. We know very little about what's planned there.

The A-8 was the prevalent Fw 190 that took part in the attack, Panzerbar posted the numbers of the planes that participated in Bodenplatte:

Of around 500 Fw-190s in total that were serviceable the day before the attack, there were around 300 A-8s (75 of them F-8s), 160 D-9s and only 17 A-9s.

Didn't serve in Europe During WW2, so please not another Oleg 1946 fantasy plane set. :)

We know JG 26 flew 81 Dora's + JG 54  and JG 4 in early 1945 II Gruppe was re-equipped with the Focke Wulf Fw-190A-9 , don't know the numbers , just the shot down numbers and was this the only Gruppe equipped with the A9 ?

End of the day the A9 was in this operation and i like it  :P

Didn't say it did. Most sources say it never left the U.S.A. to serve overseas. A few have claimed some made it to the Pacific. Don't know. Wasn't there. I figured as long as someone asked for a faster plane, I would too.

No matter what planes they pick there will always be 500 people demanding they do another one. Like 20min of the audio townhall meeting Jason did a few days ago was him fighting with people that their dumb plane suggestions weren't practical.

We don't have a valid 109 for Stalingrad!!

That one was classic.

For Bodenplatte:

  • 1 in Stab/JG 1
  • 2 in I./JG 1
  • 5 in Stab/JG 3
  • 3 in IV/JG 3
  • 1 in Stab/JG 6
  • 3 in III./JG 6
  • 3 in Stab/JG 11
  • 1 in III./JG 11
  • 6 in IV./JG 54

So...25 planes altogether, and no more than 6 in one Gruppe.

File this one under "nice to have, but not for the initial release."

We all ready have a Dora , which most will say is the better plane , it's about if not now, maybe we will never  see it and it's about a flying style at it's pinnacle 'ha' if comes down to it , we will just fly the Dora has you know

I'd save the A9 for the Battle of Berlin, where they will need a better performing "standard issue"  aircraft.

The Fs will be modeled likely by Jabo kits in the modification window, just like they did with the A5. The Gś on other hand with  larger fuel storage.. those would be really different.. but unlikely to be used much on the size of maps we have.

Not even that since  a large number of A9 were reverted to 12 blade fans by BMW because the 14 blades   drained    more power, requiring operation at higher  settings for same performance, therefore nullifying the refrigeration.

Geez, relax already. It was a just a joke.

and we will likely see some modifications turing it into a de facto F-8 similar to what they did with the A-5

Yes, the F-8 version would be excellent.

If Lufties think the A8 is a sub par choice for Bodenplatte, what about the RAF pilots who ought to have a Spit Mk. XIV or XVI but will be stuck with a Mk. IX?

Posted

There is absolutely no reason to complain of A8.  If modeled correctly (not standarized with armor plate mass as in old Il2), it should have a pretty good performance at all heights  the game usually operates on. If we had  strategic bombers then the A9 would have made a significant difference.
