Wellcome FW 190 A8 !!

The A8 wont be a problem for the Jug, from some accounts Ive read, Jug pilots said they had little trouble sticking with the A8 in pretty much every way. The D9 will give them more trouble.

 

I dont really think the A8 will be much trouble for much of anything in all honesty but strange things happen in combat.

With all of the other planes on the americans side able to carry a crap ton of ordinance it wouldnt make sense not add the F8 modification. I mean out of all the German ACs in this lineup the A8 (F8) is about the only one able to match an american AC and its payload as a strike fighter. The rest just dont carry enough to be competitive. 

 

I honestly think that was half the decision in adding the A8 in the first place, was its ability to carry ordinance. The F8 strike mod makes the most sense.

Basically it comes down to this.

You can talk all day about variants and altitudes and endless combinations of each combined with endless combinations of circumstances.

However what becomes apparent is that functionally it was a dead heat with the Mustang/Jug/109/190 at all altitudes, each with its strengths, and good pilots in each maximizing his strengths while doing his best to mitigate the others guys advantages.

 

I read an account of a single P-47 holding his own against several 190's at once at tree top level for some time before they finally forced him down (alive)

Evaluating ground attack efficacy is much more straightforward (yet that doesn't stop silly comments)
