Spitfire AI

Hi all!

 

I've been doing quick mission duels (I'm a noob), and for the most part i seem to be able to easily beat the AI. I'm flying in the Bf-109F-4, starting at same altitude, and mostly just engage in the horizontal dogfight, basically trying to stay on the enemy's six. 

 

The ace AI is doing nothing fancy, maybe a bit more varied and challenging than it was for RoF. The only thing that prevents me from getting very easy and fast kills is my bad aim (and sometimes the spawning next guy manages to get on my six wihout me noticing him   , in those cases they aim really well, much better than me)

 

I've fought almost every fighter this way and somehow the only one that feels much harder to beat is the Spitfire, which i didn't expect to be better than, let's say the Yak. Is it just so good at turning or it's more like the AI is just flying it much better than with other fighters? What is your experience?

 

(BTW i'm not saying i absolutely can't beat the Spitfire, and i'm actually glad that even the AI can be a bit of a challenge. Also I'm aware that the Messer could be used with different tactics, not just turn n burn)

In a "dogfight" scenario with lots of turns especially down low the spit will eat your 109 alive.. If you want to win you need to use what the 109 is better than spitfire at, and that is climbing / speed / energy retention. Do not turn and burn and waste you energy because the spitfire will out turn you and get on your six. 

 

On Multiplayer servers when I am in a spit and a 109 pilot enters a scenario like this with me I rejoice because I know i just got a free easy kill. 

 

So essentially don't try and fly the 109 like an acrobat and you should have no problem with anything the reds have to throw at you!

Yes, you are right. But what i was trying to point out, is that either the Spit is a very good turnfighter (much better than the Yak or I-16 which i also fought) or it is flown much closer to its full potential by the AI. I suspected the latter, but i can't try out all planes to see.

But it really seems like the Spit AI is tougher (it may have something to do with it being a recent addition to game? i don't know). Anyone experienced something similar?

The Spit is a much better turnfighter than a Yak or I-16.  It's also got more power and firepower than either.

It is a much better turn fighter. In simple terms, big wings, good power = good turning ability 

The ai is the same
