I see that everyone is very excited about the new products announcement. The next few years are going to be lots of fun as the products are delivered and expanded.

 

I was wondering about going backward instead of forward for a future product..

 

The Spanish Civil War might be a very interesting scenario.  Lovely terrain and buildings. An early plane set that includes many countries- Soviet, German, Italian, French, British. Did I leave any out?

 

Just a thought.

You know those cartoons where one large character gets hold of a smaller weaker character and just pounds them into the dirt again and again and again ...

That's what the Spanish Civil War sim would be like (sadly).

The SCW would be a good way for the developer to go belly up.

As much as the Spanish Civil War has my personal interest, I just can’t see it generate much enthusiasm.

 

Battle of France or Barbarossa would be great choices for a title at some point, though.

I love the idea, especially as you mention terrain - Spain done to this crew's standards would be visually stunning.  I would buy it.  I tend to agree that it would not make money, but I thought the same thing about the original IL-2 concept.

Personally, I can't see this being a viable proposition, commercially. Just out of curiosity though, what sort of aircraft would be involved, particularly for the Republicans? The I-16 obviously, but what else did they have in significant numbers?

This link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_Republican_Air_Force has a useful list in the right column under the heading "Aircraft flown."  Clicking on the aircraft names will bring up a profile article for that particular aircraft.  It is a real smorgasbord.  My favorites are the French types, particularly the grotesque bombers.

Thank's Vig. A smorgasbord of aircraft, as you say. Trying to pick a representative sample would be difficult, and would probably come down to whatever had adequate historical data available. As for grotesque French bombers, if we include one of them, we should also include an elegant Italian flying boat in compensation:
