I know that there is, somewhere, a chart that says what all the little icons in the technochat mean.  I can NOT for the life of me remember where.

I have typed, in the search, "technochat legend/chat/icon" etc. to no avail.

 

This is very frustrating and I can easily see how little things like this can be a major put off to someone who is not yet invested in this type of game.

All that being said.  I do know that there is a ton of information out there, but it is not always easily accessible as it is split up in different post and in different questions/topics.

 

It would be a really good idea to gather this kind of stuff up in one, easy to find and easy to navigate post.

 

I still don't know what stupid automatic thing is being indicated by the little blue icon with a clockwise curved arrow in a white circle.

I'm not sure about the reference but I do recommend going into settings and making sure the default for tooltips is set. Its under Settings, Flight Interface and the feature itself is under Ingame Messages.

 

These will pop up with helpful hints and tips for the newer player. The icons are a little ambiguous at times but they usually appear only after an action has been taken and they have their name listed when you do that at least some of the time. I'm guessing there is a good reference around. TBH I haven't noticed them much except for in areas where they are particularly notable like if I'm in full Boost on the engine or I'm overheating.

Aside: One reason that it can sometimes be hard to find things is that some post titles do not include the topic of the post, so it's hard to find when your scanning forums and search results.

That's nice.

First, you prove the actual point of the original post in providing the link to the chart.  A chart which is buried in some obscure, ages old developer diary.  My point was that finding stuff can be a frustrating endeavor (unless you do nothing else in life but hang out on this forum and know it inside and out), and this frustration to find simple information can be and is a put off to some newbies.

 

Second, you then proceed to highlight yet another put off to this community;  the wide spread sanctimony and snarkiness that some very vocal people on this board are quick to indulge themselves in.

Jim is literally the nicest person I've ever flown with. You got him wrong here, not to mention that he was completely correct in that the buzzfeed titles on this forum make it more difficult for people to find information after threads recede from the first page.
