II./JG27_Rich Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 (edited) As I understand it this German company is making reproduction Bf 109s! All the buyer has to do is supply the engine? http://www.klassiker-der-luftfahrt.de/geschichte/exklusiv-perfekte-reproduktionen-der-bf-109/495575 Google translation..... According to original plans, airworthy and perfect to the last detail, the two specialists reconstruct the Bf 109 "Our philosophy is to let the Bf 109 rise again as it was conceived by its designers," says Hubert Hartmair.Read all backgrounds and history of the extraordinary project in the new issue of classic aviation - from 9 February at your newsagent. II./JG27_Rich Posted December 21, 2013 Author Posted December 21, 2013 (edited) Keep in mind Kraut that a 109 only took 1/3 the man hours to build versus the Spitfire so you're lucky as far aslabour is concerned. As far as Daimler Benz engines go somebody was telling me in the forums that as some as these parts for fuel pumps were available many more engines would become usable and all of this was coming in the future. Merlin engined 109s just don't do it for me. Nothing against them at all but it's like going out on a date with a transexual. Edited December 21, 2013 by II./JG27_Rich 2
Sternjaeger Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 can't read German unfortunately, what are they going to do engine-wise?

Sternjaeger Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 mmmmh DBs are getting rarer and rarer, not to mention the spares for them. Had there been a bigger demand, you'd probably see more companies making spares for them, but to make one from scratch as you suggested would cost a lot in terms of R&D first, and materials, certification and other paperworks after.
II./JG27_Rich Posted December 21, 2013 Author Posted December 21, 2013 Another E here I've seen this one before on Battle of Britain the Real Story http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?125261-109E-Projects-current-status
ScotsmanFlyingscotsman Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 There was an attempt to make FW-190's some time back, but not enough people got the money. Good luck with this. My dodgy landings in this sim would make them busy for years, Made a hash of landing's so far on my first three attempts, it's a different animal from the previous verson
II./JG27_Rich Posted December 21, 2013 Author Posted December 21, 2013 (edited) Are you sure I think it was a huge success. Twenty of them were made..No way I can find them all, Give me some proof it went in the toilet http://www.flugwerk.de/html/page.php?GID=19&SID=4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkqbUahsiHg Edited December 21, 2013 by II./JG27_Rich
II./JG27_Rich Posted December 21, 2013 Author Posted December 21, 2013 I think the Spitfire fans are coming around
Rjel Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 While the cost is incredible to make these limited edition reproductions, I think it's well worth the cost. The original WWII era warbirds are far too rare and have much history to continue to smear all over the ground. Even the Mustang won't last forever. If the reproduction was made on par with the Fw-190s, 99.9% of the worlds population couldn't tell the difference. It might allow generations far into the future the chance to see planes like these still in the air. 1
II./JG27_Rich Posted December 21, 2013 Author Posted December 21, 2013 (edited) A Mk.IX Spitfire is for sale for 3.4 million dollars. A FlugWerk 190 is 750,000 Euros witch right now is 1025475.00 US Dollars. I'd rather get the three 190s. http://networkedblogs.com/yxqlChttp://www.warhistoryonline.com/war-articles/sale-supermarine-spitfire-mk-ix-3400000.html Edited December 21, 2013 by II./JG27_Rich
Feathered_IV Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 One of those new build Ki-43's would do me. Or even better, one of the six Ki-61 Heins being built in Australia.

II./JG27_Rich Posted December 21, 2013 Author Posted December 21, 2013 (edited) If you want to keep track of what going on here's something. Falcon's Messerschmitt Bf 109 Hangar is probably the best place to check for 109 news. The is an Eglish translation plag down there but that does very little. The smartest thing to do is copy and paste things in the google translator. If you check out the other place you can see there are even some F4s being restored to flight. http://www.preservedaxisaircraft.com/Luftwaffe/messerschmitt/me109.htm http://www.messerschmitt-bf109.de/ Edited December 21, 2013 by II./JG27_Rich 1
HansHansen Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 The article was published in early 2009, so it's not that new. Fortunately i was able to listen to a presentation of one of the guys last year, so the last thing I heard was that they were quite busy. They orignially planned to only build one for themselves, but ended up opening a business because of the increased demand for historic german aircraft and because they had to manufacture the tools anyway. So now they build 109s for others to finance their own one, which was still waiting for an engine last year. 1
II./JG27_Rich Posted December 22, 2013 Author Posted December 22, 2013 Thanks Hans. That's good to hear.
