PC Gamer: The 7 best depictions of World War II in PC games

I hope that gets some exposure to people who might have never discovered the sim.

Exposure is always good, but the article is silly. How did they avoid including any Silent Hunter game or any other naval game for that matter? No tank game either, though it might be more justified, since good WW2 tank sims are hen’s teeth.

I think they focused on current-gen games. Medal of Honor is missing too, as is Hidden and Dangerous, Dirty Dozen, Blitzkrieg, Graviteam Tactics and Men of War. In any case, PC Gamer is mainstream and Silent Hunter is (at least for me) the one sim I still have trouble learning (not to patient, not to good at maths), I would be surprised, if they recommended it for the usual gamer. For my sim-gaming news I go to Rock Paper Shotgun and read Tim Stone's articles, but yeah, exposure in mainstream is good and it only shows the greatness of IL-2, since I think it's listed in almost every top ten sim article everywhere.

Well, they have MOH Allied Assault from 2002 on the list, which contradicts both points here, but I actually think you’re right. I think they put that one in there as an “old” game in a very strange “category” - a category which is basically “which game made us feel more like we were playing the game version of the opening 20 minutes of Savin Private Ryan”.
