Smouch Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 G'day Guys, Just wodering if it is possible at this stage to set the Slider on the X-52 to control the flaps? If not now will it be in the future? If this has been asked before I apologise for the double question. Impressed with the work so far.
=69.GIAP=RADKO Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 (edited) Hi Smouch, It all depends on 777/Studios really. There is no way to set a slider to flaps because from a realistic perspective two buttons are used to operate up and down. I'm not sure if that goes for all WWII aircraft. Even though I'm used to operating flaps on my X52 slider I'm not too bothered so long as everyone else is in the same boat. I suppose it'll add to the immersion having to check your flap angle. You'll probably get used to it eventually because you'll naturally know how long to hold the flaps down button to get your desired angle. None the less I'd still like it on the slider. Finkeren Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 I don't know if it's posible. I have an X-52 controller myself, so I will check. Here's the important part though: It shouldn't be posible, and if it is, I would very much like that to change. An important difference between the two current planes is, that the LaGG has electrically operated flaps, while the Bf 109 has manual flaps operated by turning a wheel. The LaGGs flaps deploy and retract much, much quicker and can be actively used in combat to enhance stability in tight turns. The 109s flaps are much too slow for that. If flaps could be mapped to a slider, it would almost completely negate that historical difference. Even if the flaps still deploy slowly, it would take a fraction of a second for a 109 pilot to set them, after which he could turn his attention elsewhere.
germanicusgermanicus1936 Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 I use F down and C up. I also use the slider for flaps. Both ways work. Slider is full down up. Letters allow partial flaps. X52'pro.

Yes you can use slider for flaps but when I tested it you could only lower flaps once the slider was all the way down and the same goes for up.It isn't a gradual increase dependant on where the slider is positioned but rather up is up, down is down and around centre is neutral. It isn't really anything for anyone to worry about, it's just going to take some getting use to. Edited December 21, 2013 by =69.GIAP=RADKO
VBF-12_Snake9 Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 If you don't use it for flaps, the slider is the perfect control for pilot head zoom.
Finkeren Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 That's what I use it for as well. Unfortunately slider zoom doesn't seem to work in padlocked mode - not that I use padlock very often.

That's what I came to say, I have flaps on a switch under the stick, that works rather well. Then yeah, zoom on the slider seems to be the best use for the slider I've found. BeastyBaiter Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 I use the slider for zoom and buttons A/B on the stick for flaps up/down. Nothing else to do with those buttons anyways.
