Grazer erhielt das Ritterkreuz
Der Führer verlieh, wie berichtet, das
Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes an
Oberleutnant Leibnitz, Flugzeugführer
und Beobachter in einer Nahaufklärungsgruppe.
Gerhard Leibnitz aus Diemlach
bei Bruck wurde am 16. August 1919 in
Graz als Sohn des Dipl.-Ing. und Ortsgruppenleiters
in Diemlach, Edgar Leibnitz,
geboren. Er besuchte in Bruck die
Oberrealschule und war vor dem Umbruch
in der Hitler-Jugend tätig. Bei
Kriegsbeginn kämpfte Gerhard Leibnitz
als Artillerist im Polenfeldzug. kam dann
zur Luftwaffe und machte vom Beginn
an den Ostfeldzug mit. Er erwarb sich
für Tapferkeit das Eiserne Kreuz 1. und
2. Klasse, das Deutsche Kreuz in Gold
sowie die goldene Frontflugspange.

Man from Graz recieved the Ritterkreuz (Knights´Cross)

 

The Führer invested Oberleutnant Gerhard Leibnitz, airman and observer of a short-distance-reconnaisance-group from Diemlach near to Bruck,

born on 16th August 1919 as a son of the engineer and Ortsgruppenleiter Edgar Leibnitz, with the Knight´s Cross of the Iron Cross.

He (Leibnitz) visited the Oberrealschule (kind of a higher school) in Bruck and was a member in the Hitler-youth.

In the beginning of the war Leibnitz fought in the Poland-Campaign as an artillerist, came to the airforce and was involved in the Eastern campaign

from the beginnung on.

He recieved the iron Cross 1st and 2nd Class, the German Cross in Gold and the Golden Front clasp for his bravery.
