Your favorite German fighter

Hi everyone, for those that tend to fly German the most online, what is you favorite variant of the 109 and why? As well, if you prefer the 190, do you prefer the A3 or 5 and why? 

 

I'm having an absolute blast online with mainly the 109 and I was hoping that some of you current aces may want to share your preferences and why. I can certainly google the different aircraft and get detailed specs, and I could obviously do a forum search as I'm sure there are tons of posts on the matter. The reason I started a new thread was because I'm hoping to hear from those that are currently active online as I assume the different aircraft go through changes and fixes through the various patches and may have evolved over time?

Has to be the Emil for me, shes the best looking 109 in my personal opinion.

Ah yes, I guess I left out the 110. Obviously I left it out because to qualify for this opinion poll it needs to look like a fighter  (flame away).

Definitely agree. The new shadows on those old-timey instruments are amazing.

 

It can also roll, and having spent so much time in the I-16, my "style" relies on roll rate quite a bit in any dogfighting scenario. Really, the Emil is the Rata of 109s, as absurd as that sounds: slow and able to roll, and against late-war opponents I employ similar tactics in both. (Of course, in an early war scenario, like early TAW w/ Emil vs Rata, I fly the Emil more similarly to other 109s... but on an ahistorical WoL map, rolling and twitching the slow Emil to evade booming mid-war Russian aircraft is a lot of fun)

 

If it came down to a 1v1 duel for my pride, I guess I would choose the F4. I don't much enjoy fighting in any Gustav, though they're fun to fly.

 

I love landing aircraft in this game, and any 109 is a joy to bring home.

 

As for 190, I don't fly it enough to have a preference. I like that the A5 has manual cowls so I have something to play with during flight tho!

I like the Bf109 but I've always gravitated towards the FW190 although I really haven't had much of a chance to fly it online or even off. With Kuban I expect to fly a lot with the 190 and I think the A-5 and particularly the U17 modification are major additions to the series that may have been overlooked. I intend to fly the U17 a fair bit in the fighter-bomber/jabo role.

I think the G-6 will be my favourite once it appears. I know it might not live up to the hype, but it seems to be the classic late-war 109.

I.always expect the FW a3 to outperform the 109 in a lot of respects, but it falls short of those expectations when compared to the f4 109 and onward. Having said that though I do prefer the FW as a gun platform. Especially with secondary cannons. Not the best dog fighter but certainly a "butcherbird" when maneuvered favourably.

I like the A-3.  It's nothing more than a suspicion but I think the A-3 may be a little more maneuverable than the A-5; although of course, the A-5 is faster.

 

I remain somewhat sceptical about the performance of the in-game FW.  I haven't compared the data from the 1942 AFDU trials between a Spit Vb and the A-3 but apart from straight line speed, I haven't seen anything online that suggests to me that the A-3 has a better climb or superior maneuverability.  It might be interesting to try and re-create those tests.  As much as I like the A-3, in my experience, if you attempt to engage an enemy fighter with the intention of winning, you better have a significant energy advantage because without it, your chances are slim.

As others have mentioned, E7 is definitely the best looking. Stick forces too heavy at high speed though (as they really were)!

FW190, any variant. But if I have both A3 and A5 available I would take the A5, its faster and you can put those U17 mod and go ballistic with 1.65ata.

Fw 190A5 for its versatility and aesthetics, I just think the “long nosed” Antons look better.

 

I think the A3 is probably very slightly better as a pure dogfighter, but it just has far fewer options.

My most successfull fighter is the Stuka. It's the only one I reliably get kills in. Diving onto a low flying fighter with sirens on is fun.

Hi. My favorite is 109G2. I like the combination of speed and good maneuvering. Also i like the gauge panel. 109G6 soon i guess, because of the guns. Any 109 Gustav. FW 190D9 fascinates me. Really looking forvard to see if i can handle that beast.

well, generally German fighter, it would be the Me 410 heavy fighter. in the setting of the game, it was the Fw 190 A-5 till now, but it could be a hard battle between the A-8 and the D-9 in the future

Honestly, I can't really decide. My heart will tell me a 190, any of them with the Dora taking the number 1 spot (cockpit layout and operating all that stuff is modern to the level of an F-16, plus it climbs like a demon from hell), but then there is the practicality and workhorse aspect and 109s reign supreme here with the F4 probably being the most grown up and practical of the bunch. And yet, BOM taught me that the 110 is pretty badass when you fly a missions online with some serious people. So yeah, in that order.

 

However, I discovered my hot-rod love, the Mig-3 and it's grown on me to the point where I have seriously neglected the Lavochkins, so judge for yourself. I love all them planes, but with a gun to my head, probably any 190 (the better the performance the more top spot) would be the answer, simply because it's like a hi-tech Mig-3.

Favorite German plane? Hard choice but I go to the Bf 109F-4. This version was the pinnacle of 109 development. A perfect combination of looks and performance. Of course, the amazing number of custom paint jobs the plane had only add to the beauty. (and are a fun challenge to make )

With the reveal of Bodenplatte let me refine my choice. I love the Antons, and the A8 is the pinnacle of Anton. (EDIT: Correction... A9 is pinnacle of Anton. You learn something new every day)
